Hi,

did not have the chance to test it so far. Has anybody experience in putting an overdrive like a TS or Fulltone OCD in the effects loop?

Thnaks in advance

I`d like to know as well , right now I`m getting some great tones using a TC Electronic Spark boost up front to add a little grit and saturation

In my experiences OD pedals don't sound good through the loop. They're made to push the front end of an amp.

Sounds like butt in a BE. Tried a Ts9HW, different gain levels etc.. and a MXR ZW boost.. However, I had some interesting results with a Maxon compressor, go figure..

Hi Guys,

thanks so far for your comments. Usually I have the overdrive in front of the amp as well, just read an article about some interesting possibilities putting the OD in the loop. Will try on Saturday and let you know what I´ll find out then.

Best regards

Gaddy

I threw a TS in the loop once. What it did was completely kill the preamp tone and gain, not in a bad way but just replaced it, but that's not good either. So I'm playing sounding all Eddie like then I stomp the pedal and now I'm sounding like SRV. Thinking back I should've messed with the controls but it was so radical that I thought it was pointless. Actually it could be kinda good because it was like having 2 completely different amps. I'm curious if you'll have the same experience.

THanks for sharing, maybe I will experience the same. On the other hand, I bought the PT 20 for its tone (including the preamp), maybe I can use the OD just as a boost for certain parts in the songs (I have a Ibanez TS808DX with an integrated boost)???
I hope I can find some time for playing around and testing.

Hi

we had a rehearsal yesterday with a new singer. So there was no time for testing the OD in the effects loop.
On the other hand, to be honest for me it is not neccessary. With gain settings around 11 o´clock and playing with the guitar volume to set clean or crunch sounds, the OD pedal is just neccessary for some solo melody parts. It sounds great before the amp. Nevertheless as I like testing and playing with my setup, I will try to figure out next time.

Thanks and best regards

I didn't know how good pussy was 'til i tried it. Now it's always in the loop!

For what my 2 cents is worth an overdrive or dirt pedal doesnt give the desired extra growl or grit as when you put it in front and push the preamp. Ive tried my koko boost in the loop of my SS100 and in front, its just friggin killer in front. it adds just enough hair and a creamy liquidness thats to die for. In the loop it loses its punch and is a waste of great tone in my opinion.

I leave my koko boost in the front as an OD pedal and when i need a boost in level for a solo or just to be a little louder for certain things, I use either an MXR Micro Amp or an old Boss EQ set flat and use the level on it to set the extra volume for a clean boost in the loop.

The best you can use on the Loop its a Parametric EQ, such as Empress ParaEQ pedal.

I believe Dave recommends the MXR micro amp in the loop for volume boost.
