I have a JCM 2204 and a Mesa Triple Rec that aren't going anywhere any time soon. I pretty much always have the Triple Rec in the Orange/Vintage mode with the tone controls set around noon and the gain and presence near 1:00 depending on my mood. Typically no boost, but sometimes I feel like getting crazy. I can't get a sound out of Modern mode that I'm happy with for more than a few minutes of juvenile chugga chugga fun (which is fun).
Thinking of unloading a somewhat expensive guitar that I don't use often and picking up a third amp. Not really sure what I want (other than a high-gainer), but maybe an Uberschall. My only "experience" with one was when I had an Axe FX II, and the Uber model sounded a bit like a tighter, brighter Vintage Mode Recto. If that's the reality, I'll probably pass and look for something more different than what I've already got.
I know there are various revisions ("green" with the lousy taper, Rev. 2 which just fixed the taper and maybe added some level control to the loop, Rev. Blue which I think is tighter and brighter? And the Twin Jet). Not really looking at a Twin Jet because I don't think the KT88s are what I'd like.
Thanks!
