Hey guys i just received my torpedo live and i am using it with a 5150 III 50 watt head. I purchased the Bogner cab with EVH speaker and i am really digging the tones i am getting. Anyone have good recommendations on ownhammer irs for the 5150 III?

the Two Notes IR's are better. just go to the boutique inside of Torpedo Remote and try all the cabs, its free to test them. As far as the Ownhammer, you can't make any adjustments, you can't change the mics, your stuck with what they give you. its not as good.

To each their own, but I completely disagree.
I find the Ownhammer IRs to sound MUCH better!!!
While it's true that the Two Notes IRs allow you to
make changes more easily, ease of manipulation
is useless if the results don't match up. Rather than
spending time changing mics and locations I simply take
some time up front and find the IRs that I like and make
presets with them. After that I use my excellent plugins
like colsole EQ and emulation to make improvements.
Not that the file management and audtion process isn't
a HOLY TERROR!!!! But once I found the mic and palcement
that I perferred, picking cabs and speakers was much faster.

Disagree all you want.

Lets hear a clip of how your recordings sound with the Ownhammer?

here is one of mine with the Two Notes Cabs :)

I cannot see how this debate can possibly have a victor..everyone has a diff ear. For my money, i did not like the two notes cabs at all and this includes what i hear in your clips. Ownhammer were better but overall, real cab wins.

So i got a chance to check out the la boutique cabs. Lots of great options! I love the ubercab with v30 with my 5150 III sounds sick! I will be honest. Auditioning the ownhammer cabs is a bit of a pain in the ass...I love how i can move the mics around on the cabs! Using the torpedo cabs makes me feel like the price is a little more justified for the unit. Can you blend torpedo irs?

Lol Reza, you are being a bit of a dick. I don't need clips to know what I hear when I compare the two. twonotes IRs sound bloated to me and fizzy. Case closed from my perspective but glad you think they are the cat's ass.

Why doesn't his opinion mean anything? Because you say it doesn't?

I've seen you numerous times on here attack people because you believe something different from them.

there's truth in perception. To him it's true and that's all that matters.
Just like my perception of you is that your a fuckin loud mouth bitch.

See, it's my perception therefore it's true to me.

Lol. What a fuckin jerkoff.

I trust Reza's ear.. He knows his shit. He makes a living on sound. So whatever you peanut gallery wankers say...is water under a very high bridge.

Again, I thought SS's tone in that vid is less than impressive. It sounds bass heavy and fizzy. I think In other videos I have seen him reference using ownhammer impulses so apparently he too thinks the two notes are less than stellar?

Btw no offence to anyone but this I do this for a living shit means nothing to me when we are discussing tone. You see, tone is personal. I am sure producers and artists have disagreed on what sounds good in the past. I don't need to post any clips because you can reference Pete thorns clips with ow hammer impulses to compare among many others out there. Silly argument really. It is up to the listener to decide what suits them best. All these offerings have a place.

Can the Torpedo get that "brown sound" tone like early EVH :student:

so i have been messing around with the ownhammer stuff again and the two notes through headphones this evening. I like both but i still would give the edge to the cabs in the torpedo! I have been using the bogner v3 cab with evh speakers from ownhammer and the uber cab with v30 speakers. I guess its not a fair comparison but i feel like the two note cabs have a clearer sound and let the high end and bottom end come through more. I still love the idea of moving the mic. I can see how some people would not like to mess with that and have one baked in sound. I like the idea of knowing what I'm doing i guess. I wish i could blend two mics and move them at the same time! An axis control would be nice as well.

I have a Torpedo C.A.B and I've tried various Ownhammer and RedWirez IRs with it. I prefer the Two Notes IRs that came with the C.A.B.

Not even worth the time with this Rez guy.
He responds rudely to people both here and all over his YT videos when people critique his tone.

He's s rude asshole. He probably has an extra hole in the back of his deizel amp that he fucks.

Rez,
I was offering an opinion and not talking shit.
I don't read these forums every hour of every day
as I have a life, so sorry about the "crickets."
I thought your clip sounded fine.
Here's a couple of mine:

clips sound fantastic! great job!

Thank you.
Honestly, I'd much rather we all help eachother
on this tone journey and collaborate rather than
have a pissing contest. Recording with IRs is still pretty
new to me. I learn more every time I do it.
Ownhammer IRs are getting better and better with every release
IMHO. Some new things I'm working on are sounding much better.
The gain staging from the input settings on my preamp, to the preamp
outputs feeding my C.A.B., etc have been getting better. Small movements
even when I'm not close to peaking anything seem to make a BIG difference.
I'm looking in to picking up a Suhr Reactive Load to improve things.
I'm hoping that incorporating the poweramp into the equation will improve
the feel and dynamics. We'll see.
