This album was really good. I listened to it the other day and ZW layed down down some of his best tone on that release. I'm no ZW fanboy either.

Question; at the begining if Perry Mason you can hear what sounds like an acoustic guitar down strumming the opening chords along with the keys and electric guitar.
Did they use an acoustic track under the while whole album in that fashion? It sounds like they very well could have, to make the tones bigger and more resonant...(?) Or maybe it was an acoustic bass track?

This track is killer too.

That's a great album -- Zakk's playing and sound were fantastic -- this is pre-Viking era that I can't stand.

"See You on the Other Side" was on the cover setlist for a long time. My GF at the time loved "I Just Want You."

If you listen closely to "Mama" off of No More Tears album, he does the same acoustic underlay in a few of the heavy sections, too.

I also dig the track "Back on Earth" that Zakk did w/ Ozzy. It seems from the production of it that it was probably recorded around the
time of Ozzmosis.

Its my 2nd favorite Ozzy album with Zakk after No More Tears.

Isn't Vai on a track on this album? My little man, I think.

Yeah. My least favorite track on the album. Ozzy and Vai don't mix. Neither did Vai and Coverdale for that matter. IMHO, of course.

Garbage album...I hate it and everything else since No More Tears. He should have hung it up at that point.
Isn't the diversity here great? :D

There are 3 or 4 really good ones on here and the rest are typical Ozzy filler garbage.

Yeah it's not one of those "every song is great album". That much is obvious. But there are good songs on it and the guitar tone kills, so for that it's worth being in my CD collection.

I really enjoyed the tour with Joe Holmes filling in on guitar.

I had the pleasure of listening to what MV did and what the record company released. MV version way better, even Ozzy felt this way.

The last really cool Ozzy album, I also dug the 'different' tone Zakk had on this album and the production. Back On Earth and The Whole World's Falling Down should have both been included and a few other tracks could have been dropped IMO.
Beinhorn got a killer vocal performance out of Ozzy as well.

Don't like the Wagener version myself.

Beinhorn, also sonically neutered a great Social D record, White Light, White Heat, White Trash. Has many great songs but is so congested and compressed. The drums are small and have no dynamics and the guitars are too indistinct and fizzy. But the vocals sound great. I could only imagine how some of the songs would have sounded if someone like D Sardy had done it instead.

yep, I'd have to agree w/ya there. Not sure what that was all about. That tune was very out of place on that album, and the production sounded strange-like an after thought.

A very underrated LP/CD!! I like it almost a well as No More Tears and much better than NRFTW!! Zakk kicks ass on this and this is Ozzy's and Zakk's last good one. "My Little Man" is a pretty good tune IMO.

Here is a thread where Michael Wagener answers questions in detail about producing and recording 6 songs on that album in addition to a few other albums you might recognize ;)

Phenomenal read for when you have time!!

Thanks for the link. I found this line particularly amazing, who needs pedals or mods,...

So, to answer your question, yes, on the "original" recordings/mixes of Ozzmosis Zakk used a stock Marshall 800 and with a stock 800 cab and his LesPaul with EMG pickups. No pedals, just crancked up until the distortion was right.
