You guys must think i am a big fan of his, well kind of. I am subscribed to his channel so i get notifications. I am a huge Randy fan, especially the tribute album, was running this album continually when i was a kid. His tone (Randy) was and is still is my favorite.

Jacob gets close and his phrasing is pretty close, listen to the revalation mother earth solo, pretty solid.

Just a fun listen that brings back great memories for me.

I don't think the tone is close at all and the playing while really good, is not any different than anybody else can do. Randy is much easier to cop feel wise than Ed. His timing and phrasing is more straight forward as long as your hammer ons and pull offs and some legato are up to par. Throw in the crazy wide bends and pinch harmonics and you are good to go. When I was 16 I was playing the Tribute stuff as good as this I think. Randy is one of my faves though so either way, he gets an A+ for the medley. His VH feel is off the hook though so that to me is more impressive as that is the harder material to cop.

I can tell the kids had lessons.

Nobody figures out all that phrasing on their own.

He stopped at the lead on every song [?]

That Germino sounds "honky" not in a good way.

?? dude, it isn't rocket science. Scales and Modes... run through a few and you can instantly tell what Randy based his playing on. He wasn't that outside the box at all and he like all players, had a few go to licks and shapes he liked best. Like Malmsteen..pedal tone and harmonic minor. Besides, tabs have existed for years. I would say he just practiced a shit ton.

Dude is really good. I agree the tone isn't exact but BFD, lots of folks aren't crazy about the RRs tone at least not like they are about EVH tone.

This was the first video I saw of Chelsea Constable and I thought she nailed the first Crowley solo pretty good. LP Custom thru a Bray 4550. Full speed solo at 1:00.

I'm not embedding youtube stuff anymore because it seems half the people on here (me being one) can't view embedded youtube videos.

RR tone on it's own is definitely not for everyone. But you can get close by cranking a Marshall, running a Distortion + and some EQ and Chorus and use a humbucker that cuts. He played with a good amount of gain. I love the Tribute tone but that is also in the context of a full mix.

& has tons of natural talent as well.....the near perfect attack & swing/feel he has had for VH shit for many years now is not a common thing.........many have practiced a ton for more years than he's been alive & don't come close

You took my words... :D
Only thing I dont agree is that Randy was much more than what you just described him as, but I know what you mean.

Randy had excellent note choice. He understood the interaction between them. Scales and modes run up and down without knowing what roles the notes have with each other, is simply scales and modes run up and down. A little bit more than your description there.

George Lynch made guitars for his students & others and sold them as he taught guitar with Randy @ Delores Rhoads [randys mom] music store.

Lynch was passed over twice auditioning for Ozzy.

Once with Randy winning. and second time between Randy & Jake.

The note for note clarity of Randys playing combined with Classical guitar influences were the 2 biggest things i noticed.

There were other fast flashy players but Randy seemed the most precise.

Im not knocking anyone for taking lessons ive approached Theory more than once.

But if playing isn't fun im not going to want to do it.

I don't have time for Theory because im too busy playing guitar.

Every guitar Dojo that taught me all thought i should play & sound like them and thats not how i play.

Most of their stuff i knew already.

Your off a bit. As someone who personally visited musonia and spoke to Delores and Kelle back in 05, I can tell you that Lynch taught when Randy was gone from the school.

And if your going to post a video, please not this guy. His technique is so damm sloppy, it's painful to watch.

Its not about [you] ...

And ive seen your clips so ...

I didn't take these and don't remember how I got them but I've had them since 80s.

That's nice if you and I appreciate it.
I'll be the very first in line to admit how bad I am.
His comment just annoyed me, probably because it's the truth.
Chattel Dan, Chester, whatever name you want to go by, I'm not going to debate you on the great Randy Rhoads.
All good here. I will most definitely try to improve, that's for sure.
