Still haven't made up my mind on what to get for the neck position of my Strat. I'm not sure I want a full-on humbucker in there. I mean, if it's routed for a single coil only under the pickguard, I might as well make the most of it.

However, I'm pretty sure I don't want a puny little traditional Strat-style single coil. Don't get me wrong, they're great... but they won't match the D Activator in the bridge if I go full-on traditional.

I'm looking with a bit more heat and midrange muscle. Hopefully, P90-esque. A Duncan Quarter Pound would be my first choice. I have not tried the Strat versions, but I love the Tele QP's. However, they don't make them in cream, and I kinda really want cream.

So... opinions? Thoughts? The requirements are: available in cream, P90-ish tone, more or less the same output as perhaps an Air Norton S.

Thank you!

I want an h90 for my root tele. I have a Roxy in the bridge now for the chugs but need something different for the neck.

I would just get a vintage Bill Lawrence L250 or L220. Can’t do better IME for the criteria stated. If black were allowed I’d also recommend a vintage Schaller S6. The only problem is once you get it you’ll probably want a vintage Bill Lawrence in the bridge position as well

Possibly this from Lindy Fralin

Edit , the link wouldn't open for some reason but they've got two Strat size pickups on their site that get the P90 tone. I`ve got one of their Big Single pickups in a Strat and it nails the single coil tone

Honestly... I'm considering black as well.

Wanted you guys' opinion on that too.

Right now, the guitar is this:

But I just got a black HS pickguard for it. I'll be keeping the cream D-Ac in there as well as the cream knob... but maybe the black neck pickup won't look so out of place? I've also got a cream switch tip for it.

Also... I've got a baked maple neck with a baked maple fretboard for it on the way.

I like the white pickguard

It's actually cream. It's just that it's more ivory than the more yellow-y cream that DiMarzios are.

I like the looks of that pikguard too. Makes the guitar look "innocent" even if it has a blistering hot Ceramic screamer, LOL.

But functionally, I hate that the pickup is soooooo far away from the bridge itself. It starts taking on quasi-neck-pickup-like characteristics. So I got a black pickguard where the hole for the bridge pickup is actually closer to the bridge itself.

Its not marketed as P90-ish, its marketed as a pickup that makes a Strat bridge sound more like a Tele. The Duncan Twangbanger, its a great Strat single bridge single coil that adds beef/muscle. I replaced a Fralin SP42 with it and I like it better. I know you're looking for a neck pickup but since it's going to be paired with a HO humbucker, a bridge single coil might work.
