painting Pickup slugs with marker?

Sounds nuts and OCD but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this.

I have a Duncan Alpha/Omega set and I don't like the blacked out look.

I was wondering if I could actually paint the slugs/poles with some hobby paint or something and get more of a traditional look.

Any guesses on if this would affect output/tone?

I don't think you would like the end result. Why not just get a different set of pups?

You're probably right.

Love the sound of the Alpha/Omega set. Don't like the blacked out look in my Les Paul.

I guess if nothing else, I could contact Duncan and ask to order a custom set with traditional poles/slugs.

I've done it with a black sharpie before and it works. for a little while.

It will eventually fade, though. Can't speak to the silver sharpies, though. That's more like a paint. It may last longer.

I've taken the black slugs and poles and sanded the color off. it leaves a brushed type of silver color, but I like that look much better than the black pickups and black poles. it is tedious work, but doesn't cost much anything but time.
