parametric EQ pedal
What are you using ...In a loop or in front?
what are a few to look into?

1-800-chubtone or 1-877-gainfreak.

Those two have been abusing those for 30 years

I think these days, Ralph's using a GSP1101 in the loop of his JVM for noise suppression and onboard EQ.

Ralph has gotten lazy and does not want to called a stryper clone any longer

I think I should just contact Chubtone..I think he is in the OC...and bring over all the gear and say here you go...rack and amps what to do...how to set up...

I am looking to go with a W/D set up...

It depends on what you want to do. The Parametric Eq that me, Chub and Mark day used served two purposes. We used the Furman Pq3 which is a boost and EQ in one. We used to use them before the amp as a boost/tone shaper.
If you want to shape your tone and boost your amp Id use it before your amp. Id you want to notch out certain freequencies then Id use it in the loop.
That has always served me well when using a parametric.......Boosting done in the front...Scooping or taking away /cutting.. done in the loop.

As far as pedals are concerned they are pretty rare these days. I think BYOC has a good boost/Para pedal.
and then you have the old school Boss Pq4 and such and then you have the empress.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention that whenever you add/boost you also add a shit ton of noise, so you will need a gate.
The other thing to mention is that when playing around with Eq's what you think sounds great one day might sound like ass to you on another day and be prepared to get into what is called the never ending tweak lol :D

+1 Just depends on what you want to get from it.

The only parametric pedal I've used is the Empress ParaEq and it's really nice. Pretty stinking quiet for an eq when boosting in front. Compared to my PQ3 and TC 1140, it's definitely quieter than the PQ3 (then again what isn't   ) and is as quiet as the 1140.

Well I have the Rocket Fuel pedal..
I was thinking as I am tring to going with single channel amps..3rd power or modded marshalls....
When I roll back the volume for "clean" I was think the P EQ might be good for that... what ever I lose rolling back I add with the pedal...?

I run an Empress both up front and in the loop. Great EQ pedal.

Bringing this thread back from the dead... I'm looking once again for a Furman PQ3 on the floor type pedal. Empress the way to go for people who have experienced both? Seems to me a lot of the tones i liked (Vitto Bratta, Demartini, Lynch , Nuno etc..) all seem to point back to either ADA's or Furman PQ-3's (combined or one through various Marshalls). I use a gate anyway so not that concerned about the noise. If the empress tonally is as good and has less noise than that is the way to go. I know the empress go new for about 250$, roughly the same as for what I see some PQ-3's go for...
