Just got this one finished up and it turned out really nice!!! It started life as a total cheap beater Fender HRR strat. I reliced it over time using the Whiskey method; Drink and then abuse the guitar with whatever was around which in this case was a heatgun and and a Kabar knife.

The neck is 22 fret maple scalloped, the pickups are all DiMarzio Areas; Heavy Blues II,67,61 from bridge to neck and the bridge is an old OFR.

Sounds and plays great and has been well recieved by anyone who's played or seen it.

Here is a family shot of all 3 partsocaster projects;

Ive really been enjoying these guitars but Im starting to realize that after playing scalloped boards for awhile, Im not sure that Ill ever feel entirely comfortable on them. They sound great and feel great but I find myself having to deal with a couple of issues that seem to be inherent to scalloped boards that can be annoying. The high E falling off the edge and certain chords where certain strings go sharp. You can overcome those issues by adjusting your technique a bit but it can be a hassle. I may swap out the necks for regular ones down the road but for now, Im going to live with them for awhile and see if it gets better for me...

All look nice! I hear ya on the scalloped boards. For me, in the end, their was no benefits, only adjustments that had to be made to suit the neck.

Hey Kage, that one may be my favorite one yet. Awesome! How are you liking the single coils? They have really grown on me over the past year or so.

Thanks Carl, For me, theres a certain feel that is pretty cool but youre right in the end, the hassles outweigh any percieved benefit for the most part. Im still not entirely sure LOL!!!

I'm a fan dude....the black one is cool as hell too....might have to try this Whiskey Method, sir....

Thanks Chad, Im loving the singles and Ive been wondering why I havent used them for all of these years... Going forward, I dont think that Ill ever use anything but an Area 67 in the middle and an Area 61 in the neck on any guitar from here on out...

LOL just be careful!!! I was cracking up because Ive recieved so many compliments on the reliced guitars. The black one was my son and I kicking it around the street for awhile and the sunburst was done after a nice buzz off of some fine Texas Blue Corn Whiskey. I didnt do it all at once though, I did it over the 3 seperate sessions just to to see what I might add after seeing what I did when I was sober LOL!!!

I see people get all worked up over "accurate" relicing and thats just not my thing. The only relic job that I like is something that looks like it was seriously abused and that really isnt a hard thing to do...

Kage,

I am really loving how that turned out. I am glad I was able to pass her on to you. She belongs in that stable. I can't believe I had forgotten that it was hiding behind my amps for so long...lol.

You're killin me dude....cracks me up to think you did the black one kicking it around the street....I have a Peavey Predator strat copy coming in to try and appease strat GAS without any cash outlay, and I was wondering how in the hell I was gonna get the poly off of it. I'm gonna take it apart and tell my daughter to kick the shit out of it in the parking lot. :lol: :LOL:

See what happens....relicing a GT 'Les Paul' copy atm.....razoring sucks, I think I'd rather get buzzed up and hit it with some freon spray....I too could care less about 'accurate' relicing....I just want it to look beat.

nice.. got any extra necks with the lock nut lready on there????

Bro, poly is a bitch, its friggin bulletproof. Your daughter could be an 800lb gorilla on a steady diet of steroids and she'll barely make a dent. You need a heatgun for that stuff or HOURS of brutal sanding with 36 grit. Ive seen poly laugh at the harshest chemical strippers as well, they dont do a thing...

That LP looks great!! I say go with freon and F it up good!!!

No extras but I may be willing to part with one of the necks on the guitars pictured( thinking about the relicd black one as wel as the non reliced black one)
