Doc threw me off the machine at 11 minutes, I barely broke a sweat or lost my breath
BP 110/70. I could have went more but he said he saw enough and unplugged me

5 yrs ago i was huffing puffing and sweating like a pig. only made 9 minutes and was dizzy and hurting .

after that I changed my diet, cut out carbs, junk, sodas, sweets, processed foods and lost 30 pounds

OMG i had no idea because until today i didn't feel or notice any difference but i sure do now.

Awesome results for an old timer, way to go.

I did carnivore for a little while and lost quite a bit of weight and felt fantastic. Of course, eating steak and bacon and eggs and stuff all the time was awesome lol

Aren't you supposed to be super out of breath and at your max HR near the end of these?

In order to be diagnostic, you have to hit 85% of max predicted HR. ( 210 - 0.65 x age).

People who are on meds such as beta blockers might not reach HR. Also super athletic folks such as long distance runners might not get to max hr either.

Great news! I need to do similar thing with my diet, etc....

I’m in the worst Shape of my life. Lucky to be alive at all. Survived sepsis and a ventilator…. Cancer… hole in my esophagus… incisional hernia x4…. But I’m grateful to God for his grace that he’s shown me…even though I’m not deserving of it.

How fast do they make you run? At an incline?

I live in the hills if I want a stress test I go for a run. I was doing 3 miles once a week but my running companion had to be put down plus there are ufo's down there now so I haven't gone for a little over a year.

Gotta be careful of those UFO's bro

If you know an area might be inhabited by something negative and you don't NEED to go there then it seems wise to stay home. The other road is a busy, dangerous road with no shoulder so no running but I wouldn't run down my road in the early a.m 2-3-4 without dog, a rifle, and some holy objects. Around the turn of the year there were a couple moments of fear from waking up and seeing what I was seeing out my windows at night. I wasn't "going for a run" down there, lol

I don't know the exact speed but they start you off with a jog and slowly ramp up the speed and incline until your heart beat ratio, as mentioned, is where they want it. But yeah, after about 8 minutes you are running fast uphill. With a nuclear test they pump a 'dye' into you first so they watch the flow of everything. Otherwise, you are just hooked up to a EKG and blood pressure monitor. As much as they suck, everyone should probably do one at least once when you get up in age.

Funny/odd that my only heart problem was diagnosed after a min-stroke at 49. During the many tests I went through, it was discovered i had a birth defect in my heart that wasn't found until I reached 49....a hole in my heart, allowing clots through (and finally causing a stroke). A long strange trip but no problems since.
Best of luck to any of you with "issues"!

One of my brothers was born with a hole in his heart and died after 72 hours. Today they might've been able to fix it but I don't think they had the surgical tech in pediatrics in the 70's that they do now. Glad you are doing good!

A friend of mine had an undiagnosed hole in his heart from birth and had a stroke about 8 years ago. He still can't talk right. Or drive.
Sad.
I was very lucky, the stroke wasn't diagnosed for 2 days. I was explaining to a coworker that while watching football on TV, it seemed out of focus. It was my 2nd day at work after with no serious symptoms but he said I should be checked out for a stroke. Did that and sure enough I'd had one, just a very light one but while investigating the stroke they found the heart defects. Open-heart surgery a year later and that was a strange experience.
Edit: that's the strange unknown about strokes, how drastically it will affect you (like @Floyd Eye 's friend). It all depends on which part of your brain it affects. My stroke all those years ago had no lasting effects, even though my wife was crying at the news. My sister, almost 10 years younger than me, is unintelligible in speech (but she keeps trying) and can't walk without toppling over...DRASTIC effects.
