That was really nice, rockin' but tasteful. What's the church name, I'd like to check out more of the worship vids.

always knew one day i would make way for younger guys and the greatest thing is i have been taking part in and encouraging that process, seeking out players and soundmen and video techs who have the right heart and attitude, and can PLAY, and mix and execute live video production.
last night i got to enjoy watching two guitarists i helped find and bring into the worship team. one guy has been there for a while now and i have seen him grow in so many ways, and he is a KILLER player with an early 70s marshall PA amp and 335, and the other guy got to play for the first time last night, after trying to make it happen for months, and he was awesome plugged straight into his marshall haze 15 mini stack with a paul..not even a tuner!
then as i stood in the back of the church i watched one soundman i helped develop into a very competent FOH mixer teaching a new tech the ropes, and things were sounding great.
finally i jumped upstairs to help a new guy set levels for the CD recorder, and watched the 3-person media team i developed execute the live video switch for the web and closed circuit TVs and IMAG screens in the sanctuary, lighting cues, powerpoint presentations, web streaming, etc...
i cut out quietly and was just really at peace and happy

On a side note it's funny how much stuff churches have theses days (video equipment, recording equipment, consoles, expensive PA systems, etc) and there are so many people starving to death.
One of the reasons I just cannot get into churches and the whole religion mentality.
Joeytpg":1pe1opv1 said:Well, honestly, this is a rocky subject because people get defensive about it (not saying you are now, just stating that it can happen when this topic is discussed).
I respect the people that go to church, I think some people need that guidance and specially need to follow a herd of some sort (not talking about believing in the higher power here, just church as an institution).
Those donations, imo are just more of the same "business like" mentality churches have. Why accept the expensive equipment? why not just donate it to starving people? I don't get it and will never get it. I RESPECT the people that feel blessed that god's work helped them and turned their life around, and it's they money. But why do churches accept it so blatantly with a grin instead of doing the correct things?
This to me sums it up real good. churches are filled with golden shit and ostentatiousness when half the world is dying of hunger and illness.
Now, I know this image is CATHOLIC church, not all religions are that ostentatious but, in general they're all one in the same.
Still, I respect you and your beliefs. You did a great thing for your peers and that means good.

I know that my church barely scrapes by every month and are continuously strained for enough funds to pay the bills. When one passes by the campus on the street it would be easy to assume that, "wow, look at that place, they must be rich", it couldn't be further from the truth.
The outpouring of cash on a yearly basis to the local community and community projects as well as international missions is staggering. Building schools and digging wells around the world. Bringing clean water to communities that have none where disease is rampant. Taking boatloads of medicine to impoverished countries around the world all the while being under constant threat by tyrannical governments and warlords etc...
The good my church does around the world cannot be quantified. It's change that will last generations.

I am so impressed with your church! Our church follows the same basic beliefs. Ia invite any skeptics in the Milwaukee are to check us out, it will change you thoughts on what a church is.
Joeytpg, I hope someday you get to spend time with Christians that have their head on reasonably straight, your beliefs will start to change about God and church.

I was raised in a christian family, my grandfather was almost a pastor, and my whole family is big on believing in god. My beliefs in god are intact, I know and respect the divine power and accept it, but I'm talking about church here, once again, as an institution
some churches in particular may be awesome, and I'm sure there are some GREAT ones out there, like mentoneman's but as a whole.........![]()
