Peavey 5150 lead channel

I have a 212 combo converted to head and the lead channel sounds like I'm playing a Telecaster: very twangy and thin. What could be the problem ?

Find out which pre-amp(s) serves the lead channel and with the pre-amp tube(s) from a working channel, switch them around. If there's a faulty pre-amp tube, you can single it out fairly easily.

If the other channels are responding OK then its power amp & power tubes are probably fine.
