Peavey 6505+ 112 combo

Hey everyone new to the forum and have an equally newbie question. I used to play a lot in high school but the farthest I ever got into effects and pedals etc was a few different multi effects pedals. I've recently gotten back into playing and bought a peavey combo 6505+. I'm really trying to go for a nuno bettencourt sound off of extremes first album. I also really like skid rows first albums tones. I know they both used an ada mp1. I don't have one yet but have been looking around a bit but would that be my best route to go to get those sounds I'm looking for? And is it best to run it through the effects loop? I've never been around pre amps or anything like that so sorry for my ignorance

Time based effects work best in the loop. Wah, Phase 90, definitely in front of the amp.

Use the Rhythym channel. These amps were made to be played loud. Louder they get the better they sound. The Rhythym channel should get Nuno ish. I'm a fan of his tone. He and I like the same things. I'm probably getting a DSL head soon to get some more chunky tones like him. And I've been using 5150 series amps since they came out. Great amps.

You might want to buy a closed-back extension cab since those bands probably didn't play with open-back cabinets.
