So how is the 1x12" combo?

It's much cheaper than the head.

:)

I have wondered the same...sounds good in the clips I have heard, but I wonder how noisy it is as I don't use noise gates or effects loops...

Go play one if you can. It's a brutal tone for cheap. For heavier styles of music there's hardly a better deal to be found. It can be loud, but a 10 band in the loop is magic sauce in it, like many other amps.

made in china...you're better off finding a used 6505 212 combo or a 5150. GC has plenty on the used site

So what? Plenty of things made in China. Why is where it originated any kind of a factor in how it sounds? And why would he be better off finding the 2x12? He didn't ask about the 2x12. I've had both; equally good IMO.

He mentioned cheaper and the 112. Obviously he's looking for a cheaper option than the head. You can get the made in USA 6505 or 5150 combos used for the same price as the chinese 6505. You're right, Where its made has no affect on sound but more in terms of build quality. Thats why I would never buy that or junk egnater etc etc

Cheaper and the 1x12 is <$350 shipped on GC used. I've had 2, and my buddy is on his 3rd, no issues.

I purchased one for the former guitarist in my band. He had the head, but was using my cabinet the entire time he was in the band. When he left, he was selling much of his gear. I bought a 6505+ 112 and traded it (plus cash) to him for his head. When compared, the head was much clearer. The combo sounded much fizzier, especially at low volume, even when run through the same cabinet. Once I opened it up, I could start getting more usable sounds.

He liked it, but when last we talked, he barely plays.
