I just took the Peavey 6505+ chassis out of the headshell because I was going to clean the pots, etc. and I took this pic. What do you guys make of this?! Looks like someone dumped caramel or something in there and something looks burnt on that white plastic connector?!

It could be to help minimize parasitic capacitance between the capacitors.

Probably just to give them a little support. Not a big deal.

It's just there to secure them. The cap bodies are very large in diameter and otherwise only held to the board by the two solder joints each. Pretty common practice.

You might be right that it's there to secure the big caps as I was still looking online and came across this website, look at the pics & comments:

The white plastic connector with 8 black wires with the burn mark on it, looks like what happened to mine.

With the burn mark on the 8-pin connector should I take to tech to have repaired?

Unless yours is in the exact same spot as the damage detailed in that page, and you're handy with a soldering iron, I'd take it to a tech... preferably one who can solder better than that guy.

So I just got done using CRC electronics contact cleaner in all the pots and jacks but I was wanting to know if it's safe to spray it in the tube socket areas where the tube pins go in?
