I have to run the mids on 10 on mine lol

It doesn’t have that same upper mid character unless you really crank on the mids control. It’s a super fun amp to play though - I thoroughly enjoy using mine to practice on.

Euge is awesome but I wish his English was better !! My rock and roll ears have a hard time understanding him sometimes !!

I have one of these and use it as my 'back up " head. I think it does capture the "essence" of the original (I've had several over the years) but if I needed a 5150 to use with a band this would not be it LOL!
great head for noodling through at home though, I use mine all the time.

Euge is great. He’s got a genuine love and enthusiasm for playing guitar that really comes through in his videos. He also gets some really great tones.

Here's where I got my love for Euge and I don't really play that kind of metal . He takes and 800 with and SD-1 with an ESP les Paul copy and say a boss chorus and It sounds great . All his gear in the grand scheme of things is relatively inexpensive . I have amps and guitars that cost more than his rig and still sound like crap half the time. It restores you faith that the tone is in the fingers and you don't need to spend a ton of money to sound good.

I just like the fact that he isn't pretentious and he does real world A/B comparison videos that most people would be curious about.

I like the guy, but his demos typically sound like digital garbage. Mic a cab!

@harddriver do you know if he ever found out if his '84 JM800 was modded and how? Sure sounds modded.

In one of his videos(I don't remember which one) he sort of mentions that someone asked him if his Bad Boy Marshall was modded and I think he answered he really didn't know if it was. There is another video of his where he follows the restoration of one of his JCM800's maybe he talks more about the BAD BOY in that video, I don't think I 've watched that one.

By comparison his Zakk Wylde Marshall JCM800 signature amp doesn't really get near his Bad Boy amp.

I think if it had been it would have been modded for even more gain that what it has on it's own. I think it may be down the the fact that some Marshalls have mojo and some don't. His Bad Boy does seem a little punchier and maybe slightly gainier but not much over stock if his preamp gain was on 7 as he says in the video you posted, I assum he was talking about where the preamp gain was set.

Some of the best tone recorded on albums have been totally stock Marshalls either boosted with EQ's, Overdrives with great players at the helm of the ship.............................................
