Peavey Invective = Peavey Redemption

Let's face it, we all seen the "Undercover Boss" episode, and we all think Hartley is a bit of an arrogant jerk... but.... They did build, and used to domestically, one of the most influential rock/metal amps ever. Once they moved everything to China I feel a lot of people lost respect for them. Maybe i'm wrong, I don't know. Then these mini amps came along and people are starting to jump on board again.

If they do this Invective thing right, they meet deadlines, they don't create an amp that breaks down every few months, it doesn't require bias mods and things of that nature... Maybe this will help redeem them a bit. Its USA made. Improved the clean channel dramatically, gave it a built in 808 boost with controls, full MIDI, 2 effects loops with 2 9V power, MIDI foot controller... and a legit pine 2x12 cab with V-Type and Creamback. Sounds like such a great amp.... it intrigues me more and more. If they do this right, maybe we'll see more improved upon amps they've been known for be brought back to the USA at a competitive price...

What are your thoughts?
 
I hope it is a quality product for them. Misha whores his name out a lot though. The cab actually has a v30/h creamback. Not a v-type. I might grab the cab to pair with my stealth, but waiting to hear it.

The only clip that sounded solid to me was Misha playing through his zilla cab at home. Sounded good l. All the Namm stuff sounded terrible, one guy for premiere guitar was so outta tune it was silly trying to play prog stuff.

Peavey kinda had to pick up a popular artist to collaborate a build with, otherwise they might have been done in a few years. You have to admit, before Eddie, they were popular for country acts, but that's about it.

I heard Misha say it was a Vintage 30, but also heard the amp designer call it a V-Type... Maybe its synonymous language to them. I do see its spec'd out with a Vintage 30 though online.

I agree, country artists still use a lot of their stuff. Its nice to kind of hear that they're trying to improve upon their own product and bringing up to the times for a lot of their players.
 
I've never known their products to break down every few months to begin with.

Let's face it. Had their move to China not been after a nationally televised event, people wouldn't talk the shit they do. The XXX, JSX, 5150, and Classic series are all killer amps. Nobody gave them any respect at all when they made these great amps in the U.S., people thumbed their noses at them as not good enough, now people are all the sudden talking as if they're traitors, (on their computers made in China).

My intention wasn't to call them sellouts or traitors or any of that. I don't have an opinion on preference of where an amp is made. Most consumer products are made in China and that is what it is. But there are a ton of people who believe that in order for anything to sound good it has to built in either US or the UK. I'm just giving them props for doing what they're doing and even with all that the amp offers, the price they are putting it at is crazy compared to others....in a good way. I'm proud of them. Having said that... i'd be perfectly happy with a 6505 mini lol
 
They've been working on that amp for years. They definitely put a lot of work into it so hopefully it is received well by everyone.
 
Seems like a great amp, but many features only work if you have a similar pedal setup to Misha
FX8 owners, as well as the numerous other similar products like Helix, really don't need those 2 loops & 9volt in the back
Creative design though!
 
I agree, it's not always needed, nor practical for everyone.. but an amp that has the capability that hits a price point that rivals 5153's and Recto's is a big deal

I agree, to some extent. But, from a business standpoint, you're going to piss people off, no matter what you do. Personally, I would have liked to see them restructure, and continue to manufacture in the U.S., but downsizing cuts jobs too. I don't see arrogance, I see money-grubbing. Let's face it, GREED is what puts this country in the shit-hole, time and time again.

What baffled me about the whole thing is, they only lowered their prices $100 on a 6505?? And a 6505+ is $999, which, I believe, was to match that of the EVH 50. If you're going to move production to China, price your products accordingly! Personally, I would have went well below. If anything, you piss off Fender, forcing a price-drop on their end. A 6505+ at $699 new, would probably be more attractive to the consumer, IMO.

Agree 100%. The Peavey stuff was always built like tanks. This new amp , in my opinion , even if it sounds amazing , doesn't stand a chance. It is priced outside of Peavey's wheelhouse and it is too late in the game for them to reinvent the brand. My opinion of course

If it eventually hits JSX kind of price in the used market it'll be a really good buy.

Well, I am sure you know what the show is...They showed all these hard workers doing their thing and being underpaid.

From what I remember one guy was going to quit because of money but loved his job and was good at it. The higher up was outed, someone figured out who he was. The guy convinced the employee to stay and then a couple of months later everyone lost their job due to moving production overseas.

Kind of a shitty thing to do to someone TBH.

That's Really fucked, I know some people say it's the price of doing business, I just don't agree with it at all.
 
Is this one going to be made in China too? I thought it was going to be made in the USA?
