I say get a Vintage Modern and a quality boost pedal... that or a Marshall modded by Friedman, Fortin or Cameron.

There are two versions of the Penta. The older green ones are being phased out everywhere and can usually be found very cheap. The expensive ones are the Gary Rossington sig versions. They are red/brown now I think.

And I'm gonna get flamed big time for this, but I liked the feel of the Penta on Bull mode better than the Vintage Modern.

The Penta is a big-a$$ sounding amp that easily hangs with the VM IMHO, especially if found at the lcose out price.
I saw a BRAND NEW half-stack at GC for $499! I bought one of the cabs and love it. I should have bought the head whilst they were marked down too...

Great amp if purchased for the right gig.

I remeber going to some show with my friends where the guitarist was running a a penta on the bull setting with a ts808 and i have to say its one of the best live sounds ive ever heard , It doesnt hurt that he was a monster player though!
