I have a H&K Access Sound Module B, a Rocktron Piranha, and a Mesa/Boogie DC-5 1x12 combo.

I play 7- and 8-string guitars,
and play almost everything between straight-up jazz (ala Ted Greene, Tal Farlow, Jody Fisher),
to fusion/shred (ala Allan Holdsworth, Greg Howe, Frank Gambale),
to modern metal (ala Animals As Leaders, The Faceless, Veil Of Maya).

My DC-5 on its own can do lovely cleans and lead tones,
and I use my preamps mostly for the metal rhythm and higher-gain lead tones.

Just wanna see if it's worth my time (and money) to add the Rockmaster to my collection,
and if it can actually give me tones that I can't otherwise get from my Access and Piranha.

And if I do end up getting the Rockmaster, then I might end up getting it modded by FJA;
but I'd have to factor in those future costs into the overall value of the preamp.

The Rockmaster is essentially the Ultra preamp. It's solid, the precursor to the JSX. It will never be worth a whole lot, even modded, but a neat little preamp. I have an Ultra 60 and there's plenty of good tones in it.
