Mine gives a good meaty tone through the mark 3, but it's missing some highs.
It seems it's all bass, mids and and fizz, if I turn down the fizz, the highs become non existent. I already contact cleaned the crap out of it, maybe I need a cap job?what do you guys think?

The last one I heard sounded surprisingly good for the cash he had in it, but he was running it into a pwr amp. sounds like there may be a problem, but I would not know where to start on that one, I'm not familiar enough with those :aww: sorry

jerryp(fja mods) is the master of the rockmaster. might wanna give him a shout.

the Peavey Rockmaster, with a good tube power amp is totally awesome. It's basically like a more powerful badass 5150, if you have a good poweramp that is!

What preamp tubes do you have in it?

No idea... you raise a good point though, I could swap them out with the only other tubes I have available, which are the mesas in my mark iii, but I think those are just sovteks so it may not be much better.

You might be surprised. If the pre-amp tube is shit in it..you are going to notice it.

it is definitely a pretty dark preamp, especially if you don't use the push pull
it has a ton of mids, though
try to compensate with the power amp presence

I tried to compensate with the power amp presence and the GEQ on the mark iii, either way it just generates fizz.
I think I'm gonna try some lower gain preamp tubes.
