Peavey Rockmaster Head?

I came across a Peavey Rockmaster Head from the late 80's, (4) 6L6 and 12ax7 preamp. Does anyone know if this uses the same or similar preamp as the Rockmaster pre-amp?

I believe it does, I've never owned the pre amp but have that same amp that I've had since the 80's.

Man i would do some reading. I was told long ago that theyre not the same at all. I owned two of the rockmaster pre's in the early 90's.

Not the same by a mile. The Rockmaster head was my first tube amp, and needless to say didn't last long. Very low to mid gain rock amp, I think a precursor to the Butcher.

The Rockmaster preamp is nearly identical to the Ultra Plus preamp section.

Yup, totally different. Not as much gain as the RM preamp has.
