i got a chance to nab one for 200 bucks, should i pull the trigger? im looking for something to have at home that sounds as good or at least close enough to my mesa or my bogner, any of you have one of these amps?

Heard awesome things about the Ultra Plus, part of me wishes I got it instead of my 5150 II.

Definately, $200? As long as it works.

I have one and it's really a solid amp. For $200 you may never find one better. Very good cleans, sort of thicker style. The crunch is probably the best part, it has nice clarity and can get thrashy. Add a boost and it thickens up for hard rock and metal. Ultra is thick and a bit compressed, sort of JSX style, you can run legato lines all year with it.

I like to use the low input and boost instead of the high input. I feel there's a bit more control that way.

I like mine, VEry good all around, and can get good metal tones. But to compete with your mesa you will probably want an EQ, I have an MXR eq and it works great.

sounds like a good buy, everyone seems to like them best with an eq though, does it really need one or is it just to squeeze a bit more juice out of the lemon?

I have an Ultra 120 Plus. Great amp. No need for effects unless you're trying to compensate for the lack of different EQing between the Crunch and Ultra channels. Only downside is the footswitch / channel switching.

I am assuming you play metal? If so, the Ultra 60 is a killer amp...plenty of gain for metal with no boost. If you got a Boss SD-1 though, it'd sound brutal.

just pulled the trigger yesterday, took it home and plugged it into my recto 4x12 w/v30s and WOWWW theres no way this thing sounds this good, who in their fucking right mind would sell this for $200!!!! i'll post pics up soon....
