So does anyone own one of these? Heard good things about them and the price is pretty good, so I might just try one out.

great guitars...got a buddy that has a red wolfie hardtail...plays sweet...solid guitar

I have one of these, I have had a few Wolfgangs and currently have several. My STP is the best playing, best tone Wolfgang I have ever played, ever. If you are not a trem guy, you will love it. If you really want the D-tuna Floyd bridge, you may be disappointed.
I believe this guy is way overstating the value on this one. Last month, I saw an immaculate Sunburst with all the case candy, neck protector included, go for the BIN of $1000. I think he's asking too much, even by ebay standards. I check them out at ebay every now and again, looking for a bargain.
Also I would be very careful regarding wear and grime. these have been out of production for awhile now. Clean, lightly played examples do fetch a premium price, but wear and dirt quickly decrease their value. I would want better pictures of the frets, back of the neck, serial number and closeups of the chrome bridge and hardware. For that price it had better be perfect with all the tools and neck protector, original receipt too.

Thanks for the response, I'll try to get more pictures and info on it, but so far he says the original receipt and manuals and stuff are included. Btw whats the neck protector?

It's a frosted piece of plastic with the Peavey EVH logo silk screened on it, and a small rubber pad glued on to hold it in place. It is the shape of the fretboard and slips underneath the strings, so it is in between the frets and the strings during shipping. It was used on every new Wolfgang USA, I'm not sure about the ESP Wolfgangs. It's one of those collector things you would want. When I see them on ebay, they get about $35.00 for one.

The tools should include a small Allen wrench for the bridge height, and the truss nut wrench. The truss rod nut is a wheel with holes in it located by the neck pickup. The wrench is a hardened, chrome plated pin wrench. Don't stick an Allen wrench in the hole to turn the wheel, you can booger up the round hole that way.

Very solid guitars. I love mine, it's a tobacco burst and is a great sounding plank. I paid $1000 for it about a year ago at my local guitar store. They're hard to come by here in Canada so I jumped on it. Compared to my EBMM Axis SS it sounded like it had a third testy

Funny thing; I'm picking up a near mint black Wolfgang Special with Floyd and D-Tuna and all the tools just no fret protector, for $500 bucks today. A buddy who works at a local Long & McQuade gave me the scoop so I checked it out and she's all mine. Comes off the 21 day hold today! It should have been priced at $599 or maybe even $699 for its condition...when I saw the tag had $499 I thought

You are right, the USA Specials are a real bargain. I had a Peavey custom setup, near mint one that I sold on ebay in Dec. for under $600. I thought I would get at least $700. They were originally priced way lower than the flame archtop Standards, so I guess it shouldn't be a surprise.

Damn cant decide if I want this anymore or not

Any other suggestions on other guitars to try out?

Looks like I'll be the new owner of a Peavy Wolfgang soon

The only problem with the Wolfgang right now is the fact that the prices are all over the place. I saw a guy on a Van Halen forum sell a purple Wolfgang standard for $3100 last week. Not a custom shop or first year, but a regular standard.

Wow thats a insane price.. Most of the prices on eBay at the moment seem to be averaging arond 1300-1400 for a Std Archtop Wolfgang, hopefully I will like this guitar enough to hold on to it.

I have a Stop Tail Wolfgang as well as 2 Floyd Wolfs and an Axis. I love them all and they all play and sound great for what I like. It depends on if you need/want the bar or not, but my stop tail plays awesome. It seems to have a little more midrange bite than my Floyd Wolfs. Awesome guitar.

Yeah, I was skeptical at first getting a stop tail, then I realized I never really use a whammy bar that much, if I do decide I want one I can probably always try to trade this one around for one with it. Which one do you prefer?
