Damn, picked one of these up a few days ago. Them pickups is HOT!!!! Wow!!!

Just thought I'd share! Pretty cool axe. Have to dial in my amps differently for sure.

This one was built in the US. Yellow one just like my Music Man EVH.

I love my standard - very thick sounding and the pickups sound great. I had a special a long time ago and sold it to fund an ESP and regretted it - they're great all-around guitars that can do a bit of everything.

Both needed a lot of work though. The neck needs shimmed to give it 2-3 degrees of tilt so that the trem sits even with the top of the cutout of the body on my standard. I also had to replace all of the tuning keys with OEM replacements from Peavey as someone stripped the top nuts.

Awesome!!! Dude, I almost bought that too! Saw it come up and was interested for sure. Glad a bud got it so I can play it one of these days. LOL!

I used to have a Peavey EVH Special and have thought about getting another one someday. All of the EVH stuff, regardless of company is just awesome.

Yeah man, any time my friend!!! It rocks hard. I actually really like the middle position. It's nice and bitey and full.......not weak sounding like a lot of middle positions. Having fun playing it!! Although the D-tuna is really hard to engage for my wimpy fingers!!! And it seems to go a little out of tune when pushing it back in. Prob need to tweak it a bit. But just keeping it in E, stays in tune really well.

First, congrats on the new Wolfgang! Glad enjoying it. They are amazing guitars.

I've said this here several times before, but my old black Peavey Wolfgang Special is THE guitar with the most tonal mojo of any guitar I've ever had. I don't know if I just got a good one or what. I've had a few Standards too over the years that didn't come close to sounding like my Special.

The "hot Tele" description gets overused these days, but I think it's kinda apt here. Maybe "super hot Tele" in this case though. It's got this slinky clarity while still being smokin hot. Difficult to describe, but I really dig it!

Tips for the D-Tuna if you need:

1) Unlock the nut for the low E and A
2) With the D-Tuna pushed in (E), loosen the Floyd's fine tuner for the E all the way, then tighten about one turn
3) Pull the D-Tuna out (D) and use the tuning peg to get the D note in perfect tune
4) Push the D-Tuna back in, but only so the very back of the collar is flush with the set screw the collar slides on - so put your index finger over the back hole while pushing in and stop when you feel the set screw (my mind is totally in the gutter right now - anyway, this will have the D-Tuna out just a little from the very front, but if you always push it back this way, it'll be set back to the exact spot every time, which helps for tuning consistency)
5) With the D-Tuna pushed in, use the teeny allen wrench to set the fine adjustment screw in the D-Tuna collar to get the E note perfect
6) This should get both your E and D darn near perfect

Awesome, thank you!!! I'll give it a shot.

So that worked pretty good for the E and D, but when I pull the D-tuna out, my A, D and G go sharp. Also trying to pull that D-tuna out is a mother. Almost have to get pliers it gets so wedged in there. Suppose it's intonation. Also I don't feel the screw in the back when I push it in. It's still down in there a bit even when pushed all the way in.

Pesky little bugger!! So I've got it close. Sometimes when I push it in, it stays a bit below the fine tuner. Have to "bounce" it and then it goes on up. Not sure what the deal is there. Also when it's tuned up nicely in D, then push it in to E, the A, D and G are a bit flat. So that's kind of strange. But it's that fine tuner just like you said, needs to be almost all the way out. Makes it much easier to engage.

OK, think I've got it!! The fine tuner needed to be just pushing down on the screw a bit with the D-tuna out. But it does still stick just a tad when pushing back in. But now she seems to be dialed in pretty darn good. Thanks for your help Kevin!!!

I do remember that with mine! It was slightly a pain in the butt. LOL! Enjoy it man!

Dang, sorry to hear it was a bit of a headache for you, but glad you got it worked out. I can't remember, but I think the D-Tuna comes with a longer set screw. I don't think you necessarily have to use it, depending on the trem. Maybe yours just has the shorter one?

Not completely sure about the issue with your A, D and G strings going flat, but it sounds like that little bit of extra tension when you go back to E is pulling your trem up a hair. Even if you can't see it, that's all it takes. On all my D-Tuna guitars, I've had to adjust the spring claw just a little tighter to make sure the trem stays decked no matter what. It might end up being tighter than you like or are used to, but as you've experienced, the whole D-Tuna/Floyd thing is a pesky balancing act. You probably know all this already so hope I'm not coming off patronizing, not my intent.

Man, you've got a couple of beautiful EVHs there! Those MusicMan EVHs are killer too.

Yes!!!!!

Ok bud, now that you have the one on the right, I'll come get the one on the left. :)

I drove by your neighborhood the other day heading down to the Honda dealership. Seems like forever since I came by the house. One of these days I need to have you by to see some of my gitfiddles. LOL!

OK sure, you can just take the Music Man. Kind of crappy axe anyway.  I'm retired now, so be glad to stop by!!! :D

And Kevin, you don't sound patronizing at all. I honestly appreciate the help. This is really the first time I've fiddled with a D-tuna so now I think I have a better understanding of the whole deal!!!! It's working pretty damn good right now. Was just up playing it and the E and D were almost right on. Close enough that I didn't fiddle with anything. The E comes right in, the D seems just a tad off.........I'm almost thinking it's the A instead of the D. But I mean it's seriously close right now.

Which is better?[/quote]

Tough call actually. I think for an overall versatile guitar, the Music Man takes it. But for straight ahead hard rock and drop D stuff, I think the Peavey has the edge. I am REALLY liking this Peavey.
