Hi folks,
Just wanted to share my achievement so far with my pedalboard I've been building in the past few months, or years should I say.
The only things I'm missing and really want to get is an Analogman Chorus/Bi Chorus and and wah (probably a Wilson wah)
About the sound:
I play on a Valvetech VAC 50 watts made by a guy named Rob Pierce in Indiana throught a 2x12 mesa cab. It is a wonderful boutique amp for clean tones. Prices are really cheap as it is not very well known as this is a one guy business. The tone is very delicate, super alive and feels a little British on the side. Pedals works wonderfully with this amp, as long as your pedals don't hide the tone grain or character/personality of the amp. This is a 25 watt with tube reverb that I don't have and wish I did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjr5834j8DU or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMmg8wMJXY0
About the board. If I were to keep only one pedal for all my life, it would be the Bigsky for sure. I've tried tons and tons of pedals on the market and this reverb pedal is just amazing. It can bring a nice discrete character & more alive feel or expand completely your horizon with choirs effects, cloud, etc. The El Capistan has a nice one tone, but I only like one tone which is MultiHead, Switch A delay maxed and mix at 1:30 I'm not a huge fan of repeating sound as I prefer more stretching sound or ambient reverb echoing style.
As for the Tc Vortex Flanger, this is a nice pedal for the price but I feel it absorb a slight little part of my tone. Be aware that I am a tone purist and most people wouldn't here any difference. Empress Paraeq and compressor are great, but I feel the input/output on the compressor and the boost on the Paraeq tend to give a tiny amount of drive/distortion that I'm trying to correct to my signal (same purist paranoid seeking tone
). They both are at the beginning of my signal chain. I might try experimenting more, but I will wait until I get my new guitar pickups (Seymour Duncan Pegasus 7 / Sentient) At last the Pleixitube is an ok pedal to give you an idea of what your composition or riffs can achieve through distortion, but after trying a bunch of pedals (empress multidrive & heavy and a bunch of overdrive, I feel there is no pedal that can compete against a real rock/metal amplifier. But I prefer to have a clean amp for my day to day practice. I've had Marshalls, Bogner Uberschall, Mesa's, Framus Cobra and tried tons of amps. The only limitation of having 2 amps right now is $$$ in my bank account..!
I will try uploading a sound sample eventually. Thanks for the reading. Feel free to comment or ask question!
Happy 4th to my U.S. friends!
