Pedal to Boost High Gain Amps

I'm using a modded TS and a stock Boss Super OD that I got at a pawn shop when I was gigging in Key West in 95. I always seem to go back to that pedal for some reason.
Has anyone tried a Barber Direct Drive? I remember playing one years ago and I liked it alot. I might go pick one up this week.

C'mon..someone has to own the Barber Direct Drive..?? lol..

The Mark III I used to own was so tight in the lows that it didn't need a OD/Boost at all, as long as the bass control was below 3. It was one of the few older amps that I can plug straight into and get a nice tight high gain tone. They really are great lead player amps. I liked using an overdrive in front of the R2 channel though, for a more marshally kinda vibe. There is some great sounds in those amps.

As far as my favorite boost?? Boss SD-1 is great and cheap. Maxon OD808 is another favorite, but what really surprised me was the old late 70's MXR 6 band I have. It works great to juice the front of a medium gain type amp, I just push the sliders up, accentuating the mids, and keep the low and high bands down closer to flat... basically a frown shape, but the cool thing is the ability to choose what frequencies you can boost with a EQ. Parametric EQ's can be cool too, but are a bit complicated to dial in for boosting... really has great tone shaping ability. Love the Furman PQ-3 and PQ-4, and the Rane parametric EQ's.

An interesting pedal I don't see mentioned yet is the Way Huge Green Rhino.
This works well or for transparency the EHX soul food

Timmy. I can shape the bass and treble for different sounds, dial in the right amount of dirt and volume boost. I can basically get the same tones as any Tube Screamer derivative, Klon, Koko...plus more that those other pedals don't get. My go-to boost for an amp that's already cooking.
Also use a Koko for different levels of boost and different sounds.

My first and only pedal this far is a Tubescreamer TS7. Tightens up the bottom end, and boost mids/ Hugh's in a way that sounds nasty. If you want your bottom end back you flip the hot mode switch and have thick bottom plus boosted mids/highs. I haven't felt the need to try anything else thus far, but wouldn't mind

I am in love with my Aldrich Rocket Fuel Overdrive pedal. I back the gain off on the amp and then slam with the Rocket Fuel and I get that liquidy lead tone that I struggle to get from most hi gain amps alone. I just love the boosted feel.

My Maxon TS9 was my go to when I had a Dual Rec and the EQ pedal in the loop should not be underestimated.

I've tried so many overdrive pedals , I use them to tighten things up and ....My favorite now is The Rock Box Boiling Point. I was a Mason 808 user for the longest.

For a clean boost I like the Xotic RC booster , I like it for leads but not rhythm.
