I am building out a pedal board for my new Electra Dyne. What is the best way to set it up in regards to the effects chain? Where should I put the wah, modulation, overdrive, etc? I was thinking the delay and wah will route to the effects loop but what is a good way to setup the effects that go in the guitar signal path? I will be using a BB Preamp, ISP Decimator and a wah in the guitar signal path. Any recommendations or suggestions? Thanks!

I usually go like this:

Guitar - tuner - wah - flanger/phaser - OD - front of amp

Loop - chorus - delay - reverb - loop

Thanks Rich! This is my first pedalboard build and I am a bit clueless. I always used my Rocktron through the loop on my amp heads. The Electra Dyne rig and the Kemper rig will be used alternately. It will be fun to have both at my disposal. I figure the pedalboard will make it so much easier to carry the effects when using that specific rig.

No problem Chad! The ISP should go where you want it. If the front end is too noisy, put it after the OD. If you want to get rid of the loop "white noise", I usually put it first in the loop and then fx after it so it doesn't cut off those.

What he said above.. Sometimes i like to put chorus in front of the amp though.
How is electra dyne by the way? Any to al similarity to a marshall jmp plexi?

I don't have any experience on a JMP plexi (other than my Kemper) but the ED definitely has a foot in the Marshall territory. It is a 6l6 amp and sounds very much like a Mesa but for me it is their spin on a British tone. I really like it!!

Can they be biased to take different types of power tubes?

Yeah there's a switch on the back for 6L6 or EL34s. Honestly, whilst it isn't a huge difference, I tried EL34s in mine and I thought it was more detrimental to the cleans than it was advantageous to the dirt. That amp is definitely designed around 6L6s to me.

As for the board, generally... time based stuff in the loop, Wah, OD, compression etc in front. Modulation is your call!

Signal order... again this is up to you. I like my gain to increase as the signal goes so for example, I have my compressor first, which feeds my BB which is being used as a boost, which goes into an OD11 which is my low gain OD. Wah always before OD unless you especially like the effect. Experiment with modulation pre and post gain, as well as in the FX loop. I like my delays feeding the verb rather than visa versa but again, experiment!

This.

I've also used the flanger in the loop, especially with clean tones but that's one of those season to person taste deals.
