Pedalboards?

I'm in the process of assembling a new pedal board (need to buy more!) and I've been looking around for a decent board but it's becoming frustrating.

So far, I've looked at Trailer Trash and Pedaltrain. I'm not too crazy about PT boards to start with.

I don't need anything massive either as the PT mini (20x7 size) is perfect but I cannot fit a wah pedal on it.

20x10 (funky measurement) would be great. even a 22x10 would be cool. The PT stuff that is 24x12.5 is too big as well.

Anyone out there using something different?

Thanks

I was in the same boat you are in. I could not find the right "one" so I built my own. Anything goes wrong? I know how to get a hold of the builder :D ! I gave myself one hell of a warranty on that thing  !

I could build one myself, but I'm getting tired of building shit.

I'm always tinkering with something and I need to learn to leave gear/goods alone

Although, my Les Paul refinish the second time around looked waaaaaayyyy better than the original one I did.

Yeah - a made to measure flat pedalboard with black vinyl top, steel edging and rubber feet. The rear row pedals are on risers for better accessibility. All cables are visible and excessable, making for quick, easy troubleshooting. I can't take credit though - I had forum member Casey Hanson (username 'Fallout-Labs') build it for me. I highly recommend him!

On my board, the risers, from left to right, are: (1) a Voodoo Lab ISO-5; (2) a custom-made enclosure, with a transparent buffer and both pre- and post-buffer FX loops with separate Send and Return jacks (for patching in external effects); and (3) a custom-made interface box to allow easy and quick connection of my snake/cable run to the pedalboard. Again, all custom-work was done by Casey.....

Think outside of the Pedaltrain and Trailer Trash-style options. Why be constrained by predefined dimensions/measurements? If you just want the made to measure board itself, it would probably run you less than $100 (sorry, I can't remember exactly what I paid for mine - it's been a while  ).

I got a Holeyboard WIDE a couple weeks ago and I think its awesome.

These look cool. Do you have a pic of yours? I am wondering how heavy they are - especially loaded? I am alot more tired these days when I get home and unload all my shit late at night I started not bringing the huge amount of shit I used to bring for this reason.I started using a smallish Trailer Trash b/c the aluminum is so liteweight. I run my wah outboard so I sometimes bring it, sometimes not, my choice to save weight depending on needs of that session. I have always found wood boards to be quite heavy, and these look quite thick.

just checked and it says 9.0lbs. Thats heavy for an unloaded board I am thinking.

i use the pedaltrain junior (17 x 12.5) , have 10 pedals on there, would think that's a good size for a Wah + a few pedals, very light and portable, just the right size for me, (Boss, TC, MXR , mooer, Strymon pedals on there atm) debating replacing the TC reverb for the Strymon Flint.. but money moneyyy

otherwise building your own is probably the next best thing, i've made myself some tiny boards for 3-4 pedals out of kitchen cutting boards and small carry cases from a hardware store (around 30 euros total cost =0

The boards themselves are not heavy at all. I will snap a pic & post it later today. Mine is loaded for bear, but it's not what I consider heavy all said and done (I can weigh if you want me to). I wanted something with two tiers that I could easily switch out pedals. Using zip ties allows me to that. Overall I'm pretty happy with it.

I found a broken desk on the side of the road and cut it up to build my own. True story. I'll add pics this evening if I can remember to.

I did one better. Well not so much me but Bob Savage offered to build me one.

We speced it over e-mail/phone calls and I'm wicked excited to see it!

Great guy to deal with and I can't be happier with the process so far.

Weighs in @ 25lbs. I don't consider that heavy as compared to lugging around a 60+ lb. amp, but that's me. I have a high gear-to-pain threshold. :D

Call the guys at Tone Merchants, they have these INCREDIBLY badass new boards there.

I remember see the new boards. Some aircraft company makes them if I'm correct in my assumption.

The board Bob is making for me looks killer so far. He was even nice enough to drill holes for Neutrik jacks and a AC Mains in (hardwire my pedal's supply). The finish and wood choice is killer too.

Can't wait to post pics.

I always roll my own, usually with scrap wood and a rattle can of flat black...

I did that for a while and after putting my foot through a homemade board I said forget it.
