I've always ran lower gain overdrive pedals into my higher gain distortion pedals. Seemed like the logical thing to do since you typically use an od pedal as a boost before your amp's high gain channel.
I read recently that Pete Cornish suggests doing the opposite. He states that the distortion pedals provide sustain and the od pedals shape the tone. I have been trying both ways all day and can't decide, so I compromised and did both!
MXR classic OD --->Lovepedal Eternity--->Big Muff (set with higher gain)---> BB+ with one side setup with low gain and one with high---->OCD with gain set at noon and then finally into two delay pedals set with different repeat times.
It's a whole lot of different gain tones, but it gives me tons of versatility. How are you guys running your dirt boxes?
