Hi all.
Triode mode does not only change the output power, about half the power compared to pentode mode. Hooking a pentode up in a triode connection changes the internal resistance of the tube and will make the harmonic spectrum change. Usually this results in a smoother, less high end frequency response.
Due to the lower output power, power amp compression/distortion will occur earlier than in pentode mode.
