Does the triode just change the volume or does it offer a change in tone a bit?

i have not messed with it much to find out...but i'd think it would do both. like pulling the outer tubes of a 100w amp not only reduce the power/volume...but it also changes the speaker output and drives the entire circuit differently...which has to have some kind of impact on the overall sound/tone.
but then again i could be way off?!?!?

Hi all.
Triode mode does not only change the output power, about half the power compared to pentode mode. Hooking a pentode up in a triode connection changes the internal resistance of the tube and will make the harmonic spectrum change. Usually this results in a smoother, less high end frequency response.
Due to the lower output power, power amp compression/distortion will occur earlier than in pentode mode.
