Of course, stellar quality recording and playing Mr. Thorn always spoils us with. And this thing sounds le-git.

I'm sold. I just wanna see how it cleans up on guitar volume.

Damn, Pete could sell me an ice cube at the south pole if it had input and output jacks.

This is going to be the biggest selling pedal of the year! I hope they are making enough of them to meet the demand.

I'm not trying to cause an argument here as I sincerely want to understand this, but what's the point of a BE pedal? I love the BE100 and it's a terrific sounding amp in every respect, but to me it just sounds like a modded Marshall. There are a million Marshall pedals on the market, so I'm not sure what the BE pedal has to offer, and considering it's a Friedman, you know it's not going to fly of the shelves in the $99 price range. I mean if you hear and SLO or an XTC, you can identify that tone most of the time, but it's not like the BE has a unique tone you can distinguish from any other modded Marshall. Granted it's superior to many amps, but it's not exactly a signature sound, so I'm just wondering why such a pedal would be a big deal compared to say a Suhr Riot or Angry Charlie, etc...? I'm much, much more interested in the new consumer-price-friendly Friedmans coming up like the Runt.

I admit, that pedal sounds great, but I don't really judge gear when professional players demo it. When average-guy Youtube videos and Sound Cloud links start popping up, then I will have a better idea of what a regular guy like me would sound like playing it. Also, the PT-100 is also a modded Marshall type amp, so wouldn't it be a better test to hear what a Marshall style pedal would sound like on a non-Marshall style amp? Why would it be advantageous to use a Marshall style pedal through a Marshall style amp, or what would it achieve that putting an OD in front of a Marshall wouldn't do?

Excellent points, and why I cancelled my pre-order. Pete sounds just as good with the EVH 5150 pedal, and the Angry Charlie. I must admit, there is a gnarly-ness to this BE-OD that I can hear, which is very cool, but there is another Japanese demo floating about and it just sounds like a box of mids. Like you, I want to hear amatuers post videos as I know the thing will jsut sound like a Boss Metalzone in my hands

Great point about the type of amp too. I bought a SL Drive pedal because I wanted some more Marshall to add to my Peavey. Doesn't work at all, but sound amazing in my JMP. Bit pointless really.

All good points but it sounds really really good and are the controls on these other pedals as good? You saw how much range and how active the control knobs are with the BE.

I was very impressed and he also didn't even mess with the internal gain switch.

With all that said I was very hyped several months ago about this when music stores were saying the pedals would be $129 but now I see they are actually $199 which is a bit steep for me.

I'm sure it's worth it and yeah good gear is expensive but if I get one I'll wait till they start popping up used for a decent price.

Also wanted to add. This guy is not Pete Thorn and it still sounds awesome. Crappy camera and sounds pretty sick.

For some of us that don't bang supermodels and count gold, I think the BE-100 pedal is a good alternative to having a BE-100 but no way it is going to sound like the amp. I will say that clips I've heard thru a nice clean Fender, etc. combo seems to be the best setup.

Sounded good to me, but yeah in my hands would sound like a box of wasps ;)

These types of pedals aren't meant to replace amps, their best for the gigging musician who likes to travel light and sound good no matter what crappy backline amp they get stuck with. I remember seeing a video of Guthrie Govan demoing the Suhr Riot pedal, saying he went to Russia once and the backline amp they gave him was a Fender Twin...

I should add that if I'd buy one if came across one cheap because I just love a good overdrive pedal. Most of the time I only use one or two, but I have many laying around just to have the palette of overdrive flavors.

Friedman may not be re-inventing the wheel, but he's making some of the best goddamn wheels out there. You're not going to sound like Pete Thorn when you play through this, you're going to sound like yourself. I think that if you can sound good through a Marshall, you're going to sound good through this pedal.

I think it sounds pretty good here. I'd love to hear an amateur demo with no studio production .. something more like what we heard months ago at namm.

I take these "demos," very lightly because they aren't a true representation of what the average joe will hear when they plug in at home or at jam practice, being that they do not have access to the equipment like this guy has to make it sound good.

Not taking anything away from his presentation of course, its good and it makes you consider the product. Hell, his 5150 pedal demo was good, but it didn't sound that good when it was home with me in front of my clean channel that's for sure.

Are you guys still seeing YT embeds as a sliver of black?

That problem popped up the other day , was fixed for a bit yesterday but seems to have reared its ugly head again

I have a few amps that i would love to try the pedal on what happened to the video? NVM found it

cool thing about these is that they are smaller than amp heads and you get the preamp voicing to drive into any old power stage. I have this tiny board I use where I just put a few AIAB pedals on a strip and labeling them and you dial up what you need when you can't haul that big setup in.

Just watched it. Wow. Sounds totally awesome. But I'd have to hear it in person and preferably through a cheap-mid level clean amp before I decided I had to have one. I'm pretty happy with my Carl Martin Plexitone pedal and still barely use it. Got a Friedman Smallbox two weeks ago, so not sure what use I'd have for the BE pedal. Though, as always, Pete makes it sound amazing. He's just ridiculously good, almost too good for doing product demos that mere mortals will be disappointed in when they try it at home.

Loved the demo but like others have stated, PT can make anything sound amazing.
I am willing to try this pedal tough as I love BE100 tone. If the pedal gets me the similar feel and tone using it with my amps, I'd be happy.
