IDK guys, I am not very good at this sorta thing. Here is the Hydra with me playing my style. I messed around with moving the camera in the second video, a little in the first. You can actually see the camera moving from the thunder coming out of the Hydra, hehehe. When I watched it for the first time I thought I had ghosts in my basement guess not.

I used a cheap ass $100 camera. Did the best I could. What angle do you guys like best? Or is it all not very good? Either way, I am not doing the Hydra justice. It sounds MUCH better in the room, trust me. I apologize for using some of the same riffs. ( I know, excuses are like assholes) Thanks for checking it out. :)

2nd video sounds better to me. I am really interested in trying out a hydra. It's really the only amp out there that interests me much.

Also those ISP cab things look really cool.

Thank you sir. Thanks for the input. I highly recommend checking out the Hydra if you can. It has extra mojo in it.

Question...do you like the VHT or Engl cab better with the Hydra? Also, do you like the Hydra better than your VHT?

I ask because the only other preamp I've been interested besides the VHT GP3 was the Peters Hydra.

It's hard to call on the cabs. They both are so different. I think I would go with the Engl though if I had to make a choice. The Hydra is tight like the VHT but has more ability to saturate. The mids are more musical to my ears on the Hydra. The Hydra is more clear, as in note definition. The Peters just sounds all around better in all categories. FWIW

What amp does the Hydra most resemble? I lean towards the VHT simply because of the fact it's 3 channels and super versatile :) and it's got a graphic eq etc....and I've owned a VHT UL so I know how awesome that head was.....although I did eventually sell it when I got my Framus cobra (I was in a metalcore band at that point)

To me it takes all the things I like about my amps and puts those traits into one amp. It's middle ground between UL and Avenger, 5150, rectifier. Just does everything well. It takes to my Thrash style. Like you said about the UL, the Hydra is VERY versitile. Loads of tonz to be had. Loop works really good with the cheap ass pedals too.

Not much love for the Peters? :m9: I love on my Peters constantly. :hys: :jerkit:

The videos were a bit boomy on my work speakers. It sounded ok through my headphones and PA at home. :dunno: Maybe try harder.

Amp sounds amazing man really killer! How the heck do you have it wired up with those sub cabs or whatever those are? Are those the self powered cabs that only use sub frequencies?

Hi Dallas. Yeah man, the self powered subs only take the lows. The built in crossover sends the mids and highs to your cab. These are made by ISP and are the Steve Lukither models. Guess he helped with the design and uses them. They are great for bringing a 3D ish type sound to your rig.

Hope you are doing OK. How's the finger situation? ( I forgot to post on it) Dude not being able to play sucks ass. I had shoulder surgery this year so I know how it can suck. I was playing, in pain, within a week.

Anyhow, thanks for checking it out. You rock dude!

Hey man,

Thanks for the response! So I take it you run the load out to the subs and then run speaker cables from the subs to the 4x12s?

Thanks! The finger is doing better, still stitches for a bit more so it doesn't rip open! I can play but not as well as usual since 1 I can't hold the pic quite right with the bandage and 2 I actually when finger picking hold my pick between my two knuckles and the bandage takes away just enough clearance I can't do that... and aside from mobility and all it's not the end of the world but it's just annoying. That blows man, hope your back to full strength! A lot of people don't realize the effect of shoulder muscles on guitar, we literally use almost every muscle in our upper bodies!

Killin clips dude keep it up!

Dallas
