New amp just arrived today! It is a 100W Peters Amplification Triple Channel amp. The channels are Chimera, Vega, and Halo. I haven't had much time to spend with it yet and have only had the volume turned up to about 0.5 so far in an effort to be respectful to my neighbors... but it sounds great so far! Definitely can't wait to crank it and stand in awe!! I have it paired up with a Voltage VB412 cab with 2 WGS Invaders and 2 WGS Liberators. My primary guitar is a Fender 2012 American Standard Stratocaster HSS with a Bareknuckle Holydiver in the bridge (pretty sweet guitar!). I had originally ordered a dual channel with just Chimera and Halo channels, but opted to go for for the triple to get more of a clean/crunch/lead configuration and to prevent myself from picking up another amp later on specifically for more of a "crunch" type of sound to complement the the brutality of the Chimera and the cleans from the Halo.
My first impressions are really more about the Halo channel than anything else. It seems to do anything from a very pure clean tone to a reasonably dirty classic rock type of sound if you crank the gain and engage the crunch switch. I haven't had enough time with the Chimera and Vega yet to really comment on those channels. Though it does seem like the Vega covers a lot of "crunch" territory, I imagine it will also respond very well with the volume knob on the guitar.
Many thanks to James Peters for building this masterpiece and to everyone out there who posted youtube vidoes of their Peters amps and discussed their amps on various forums, including here at Rig-Talk. You really helped me decide on what type of amp I wanted and what channels to get for my Peters build. This is my first really "nice" amp and it is a REALLY nice amp (my first foray into separate head and cabinet as well). James was always very helpful with helping me decide what I wanted from the amp and which channels to get, as well as very responsive with questions I've had throughout the build process. If you are looking into Peters amps, definitely check out James's website (just google peters amplification) and send him an email or give him a call. For what it's worth, the primary amp I was considering in addition to the Peters was the Mesa/Boogie Mark V. It had great clean and crunch, but the "heavier" channel didn't really impress me at the very low volume levels I would be playing at 99.9% of the time, though it did sound good turned up a little (not having a Mark Series background, I probably also didn't understand how to EQ it to get the most out of the amp). The Engl Powerball II was the other alternative I was considering, but I never actually played one. I also wanted to get something that was built specifically for me and was blown away by the Peters videos I saw and the extremely high esteem James's customers (myself now included) have for his work and reputation.
If anyone has any suggestions or advice on getting the most out of these channels, using the power amp controls, EQing, how you like using the crunch/edge switches, or anything else to get the most out of the amp, I am all ears and certainly appreciate the input.
I'm trying to attach a couple quick pictures of the amp as well, hopefully I do it correctly.
