Does It feel like every time a 20 W amp comes out It gets a little bit better?

I mean, not really? This one probably sounds pretty good though - the phil x model is definitely one of the better sounding big friedmans

Next up will be the PX50? Higher wattage with all the PX20 features

I already said this in that other long NAMM thread, but I emailed Dave and he said this PX20 would be available for purchase in around 3 months.

I'm pretty interested in one for gigging.

If I had one thing I wish were different about Friedman amps is that I wish they had more options and switches. I'm coming from the background of being used to a Mesa Mark series, so that's probably why. I see a lot of the 20-watts as being too simple in features. Even their 100 watt amps sometimes are very simple as well. I know Friedman amps are made better than Marshall or Mesa, but I think those brands have the edge in offering more options to players. It's good to see the Phil 20 is giving players more options, and the dumble mods could be interesting? The only Friedman amp at this point I am interested in is the Jose.

Had no interest until hearing a demo. Sounds killer. Great features too.

In only three months, the tone that has been featured on groundbreaking albums, on hit after the hit, will finally become available!
Last night I went to bed, dreaming of Phil X tones.
He’s amazing, he’s such a stud, what a player. He actually learned a few Van Halen songs and does covers like nobody’s business.
And Friedman has made it available. No compromise, 20 El84 powered watts of sack-twisting, taint-lapping Phil X tone.

What drives the decision to use EL84s in these amps, rather than EL34s (like Marshall)? The PT20 V2 might be my favorite Friedman preamp circuit, but it sounds small next to a "big glass" amp.

Yeah the amount of knobs and switches is pretty fiddly for a Friedman. I'll be interested to see how they sound in the hands of regular folks
