Phil X demos his Friedman amp....

Phil's tone is great, BUT I liked the tone of the BE100 in the demo he did a few years back better. More high mids compared to the Phil X amp, I think.

I chatted a bit with Phil. We have similar taste in pickups and pretty much like the same thing in amps. I'd love to try his amp. I have no doubt it sounds killer! I think it's cool he has his own amp. I just said amp a lot.

Not much gain. Still sounds good. I'd like some more gain.

I think that might be my favourite Friedman tone I've heard.

Is it me or is the Friedman stuff bass heavy? Has this huge thick tone but the mids and bass is always pumpin but the highs seem muted. To some this is a better Marshall I suppose.

I agree - too much bass for me.

I dont know that i would categorically agree that the friedmans are heavy on the bass, as they are capable of being dialed in without that and a lot of high end.

That said, the phil X amp is definitely not a bass heavy amp - you could absolutely make that amp quite bright and abrassive on the high end, more than any other friedman (to me).

Its a very punchy, immediate, articulate amp - very jcm'ish but still with a dose of the friedman polish

My least favorite, tonally, of the Friedman line. My most favorite of his lookswise. Cool looking, not that great sounding. In this video anyways. :dunno:

I'm sure it's the sound he was going for in this particular clip. I guarantee that head has way more gain than that. Probably trying to show its versatility. I don't care for the recording personally. Probably better than a polished over produced studio clip though.
