I've been pulling my hair out since I saw this trying to decide whether to part with my original '64 Vibroverb to get one of these. Sounds fantastic!

Now that is quite a departure.

Yep... but I quit gigging the Vibroverb because of its worth and I've got a couple other amps to cover that sound anyway. I folded to the GAS and went with the Friedman!

What speakers are being used here?

I wanted to tell everyone that I am sitting here with 4 brand spanking new Scumback BlackBack 65watters and I am totally floored by how the Brown Eye and BB's sound together. They have that mid range and aggressive KNOCK that you get from the good old BlackBacks. I have 4 ORIGINAL Blackbacks in mint condition and the new Scumbacks sound the same. No difference... other then the added low end from the 65watts as opposed to 25 watts. Buy the new ones... you won't regret it!

Wade from MotorCity; if you are reading this, 2nd Degree Blackbelt here I come! LOL

Dave, you have been spot on about all of the VH tone stuff. From the amp to speakers to pickups. I guess it helps knowing the guy and having good ears! LOL

Is this Phil X dude someone famous or something? Is he in some major band? Never heard of him.

Phil X is an LA session player, probably best known for his YouTube vids for Fretted Americana. He was also recently on tour with Bon Jovi.

HBE,BE,C45,Fat,Sat,Simple clean, effects loop and 50/100 watt switch.

Just curious, just ordered a BE100 thru Brad :-) Is it possible if I find I want/need more flexability in the clean channel to modify to full clean?

I do not own one of these, but played them a few times and I do not think you will need any mods for the clean channel IMO. Of course I spent more time on the BE/HBE channels, but the cleans are real nice.

Sold on the Friedman.. :) BE but would love to see a video demo like this of the BE-100 without any effects just straight to the cab. Like "motrock" said, This Amp should sound Ultra Yummi with vintage BB's or Scumback BB Speakers.

BE100 comes with what Friedman calls the simple clean. Has more of a Voxy quality to it.

Is the full clean still available anymore? If so, what's the upcharge?

Well it's just that it takes a lot of my time to mod them after the fact. Also cost to add it is 500.00

I see. Well, I would be buying new if I were to purchase a BE anyways. Cleans are very important to me, so I'd probably want the full clean...Although, I guess Cantrell gets by just fine with the simple clean.

maybe get the ss100 then?

The cleans on the BE 100 are really impressive, I was suprised how great it sounds clean!

Yeah, clips sound great. I just was more concerned about EQing it with different guitars. So...there's a 3 way switch?

Three way bright switch; cleans are incredible on the SS100.

Best demo ever! Phil is like Sammy's brother, with killer Van Halen playing chops! Loved the BE tight low end, THAT's the key to good early VH tone.
