The guy is a great guitar player. But it just doesn't sound right. The whole vibe of the band is different. It's more like Jon singing karaoke now.

It's been like that since the album after New Jersey (I stopped listening then, mind you I was about 15 at the time lol)

I'll probably catch some crap, but I like Ritchie Sambora. He has a great voice and can play the shit out of a guitar. But, while he's sipping virgin daiquiri's at Betty Ford, was there really any doubt that Phil X (Xenidis) would rip it? That dude rocks! Love the Fretted Americana videos
I agree 100%!!

to be honest i thought snake sabo did a better job on the leads on runaway than any lead ive heard sambora do. I love bon jovi and think the songs are awesome but in all honestly i always saw ritchie as a mediocre player in a huge band. Since he's technically always just been employed by Jon and never actually had a real "stake" in the band i always wondered why Jon never sought out an even better player early on with all the talent that was walking around LA in the 80's.

I don't think Snake did the solo on Runaway.

Aldo Nova did Runaway and the tracks on that album, he was a popular sessions player at the time, Sambora wasn't hired til after the album got on the charts, don't know when Snake did Bojovi stuff.

Nice to see Phil playing a LPC, Sambora is an amazing player when on his game, sounds like he needed some time off.

Tim Pierce played the solo. I'm a big fan of his, and it's got his mark all over it.

Although Aldo was credited on the record as well.

Dang, I forgot about that. I was going to say Aldo as well. Tim's an awesome player. I dig Richie too. That's how I learned to sing harmony. Singing along to Bon Jovi Albums.

It was a close call between Phil and a 15 year old Guitar Center/Paramus employee

Hmmmm......didn't know anybody listened to BJ anymore.

Seems like a cool guy. Music is cheese. :aww:

How many here would say no to a full-time gig with Bon Jovi?

Anyone that did would be a fool...

I don't begrudge any working musician regardless if I care for the music they make or not.

I like Bon Jovi - there, I said it :) I grew up on 80's rock and even listened to some of the lighter, fluffier stuff

I'm a little surprised at the negative comments towards Ritchie (well, OK, not completely considerng the Brootz crews). I've seen Ritchie play Diezel's - I figured he'd at least get a little love for that :D
