I picked up a bunch of gravity picks years ago and couldn't stand the weird chirping plastic sounds. I had high hopes for those too. I think they're still in a box somewhere.
I'll take them off your hand for you, I haven't had a chance to try 'em yet ;) :D

I used to be into the jazz picks, started with the black, didn't like the red too much. I eventually was using the green tortex jazz picks and the 358 small "teardrop" fender picks and also tried the tortex ones. Those worked for the speed I liked at the time but weren't really too great for rhythm.

Recently I've been using the Herco flex 75's. Love 'em, great for rhythm or lead playing, and sound way better than the tortex stuff IMO.

I've gone through an EXHAUSTIVE search trying to find what feels just right for me.

I ended up with: Dunlop Animals As Leaders Tortex Jazz III XL, Black, Guitar Picks .73 mm

Couldn't be happier!

I just bought the Dunlop Artist pack with the EJ/Bonamassa/Petrucci/Hammet/Hetfield/Animals as Leaders Jazz III picks and the AaL pick def stood out. It had a very bright, crisp attack and was very easy to play. EDIT: opps, this wasn't a Jazz III but the Primetone, I noticed they have a Tosin and Javier Jazz III.

I need the smaller size though so I liked the EJ Jazz III. It's not just a red Jazz III with 'EJ' on it. It feels like a different, harder material, is slightly thinner, and ever so slightly bigger. It has a noticeably brighter, crisper attack than the regular red/Joe B/Hammet (all Jazz III types and sound about the same to me). That was my only complaint with the regular red Jazz III...the attack was a little too round/thuddy. The Petrucci Jazz III is a whole 'nuther pick. Very hard almost glassy material, thicker, and bigger.

I used to use these old Fender Heavy tortoiseshell picks from the 70's my friends dad gave me, but I ran out last year. So now, back to the yellow tortex. Jazz III's are the best for pinch harmonics.

I really like the green .88mm Tortex Jazz III XL picks. I could never bond with plain tortex because they arent sharp enough but the sharp tortex are too sharp. The Jazz III had the sharpness I wanted but were too thick and small. The Tortex Jazz III XL is perfect if you want the Jazz sharpness but in bigger size with more options on thickness. Havent seen them in any stores though so I ordered the bulk bag on amazon.

You could also try the Dunlop Tortex III which is a standard sized pick but the the Jazz 3 Tip.

I used to use the .60mm Orange Tortex Standards but recently switched to .73mm Yellow Tortex cause they are faster off the string and offer a little flex when strumming chords.

I actually have those as well but the tortex iii isnt as sharp as the tortex jazz iii xl.

You're Right. I can't use the TIII the way i pick since i'm very heavy handed, i wear the tips out too fast. I'll stick to the .73mm Tortex Standard (Yellow ones) I have also been experimenting with the .73mm Tortex Triangle.

I'm going between 3 picks right now and I love them all lol. John Petrucci Jazz III signatures, the Tortex Jazz III's, and I bought some Gravity picks...and they're awesome!!!! Kinda pricey but well worth it.
