Picking out modules for my M4.........

I disagree.

The SL2 sounds like a darker,smoother, lower gain EG5 to my ears. It still doesn't do the midgain KERRRANG of the SL.

GET AN SL.

I know you're all going to laugh at me, but I'd been going for the tone in this song, and the SL2x gets me there. I would classify this a mid-gain, which the SL2x does do, you just have to lower your gain knob a lot.

Have not, but coincidentally, I have been having some serious GAS for a Gibson dual cutaway Les Paul Special, so I'm probably not too far off from trying this very thing!

Ok, got the VX at Indoor Storm and the RT2/50 arrived in the mail today. I went ahead and ordered the SL and the SL2X from Eddie at I.S. while I was there. Also ordered a TM212 cab on Friday at GC for the 15% off Black Friday deal.
