Picking up this LPC tomorrow. Terrible painted. How to remove it?

Hopefully it plays okay. There’s money room to make it good. Is only 1300 usd. From 1980.

Original wine red. But previous owner has painted it black. And it’s awful. I am going to strip it.

How do I do so? Some pant even goes out on the bindings.

I would just wet sand and buff and leave as is unless you want a lot of money in a refinish? Make sure to mask the binding if you fo the wet sand route.
 
But the paint is all over the binding as well it looks
I would tape just the corners and paint edges you want to keep and wet sand away the overspray. Maybe reclear everything.
 
All of this assumes you have the skills required. I have painted cars and guitars so I know my way around that type of repairs.
 
Pat Wilkins has done 5 guitars for me and all have been incredible. Can’t recommend him enough. Just shoot him an email and what you want done. Example photos are good to send also

IIRC the pics you posted of his job were phenomenal.

@peterc52 obviously it wont be cheap, but since this is a 1980 LPC, I would 100% pay the dosh do have Pat do it.
