Well I have both of those pickups also. I think for a traditional paf the Holmes is great. For evh kind of thing you need just a little more though. So a Blister with the alnico 2 it is huge and brown. Make sure you get the alnico 2 with the blister though thats the key. Dave

Motorcitypickups.com Hands down and I have tried everything. I would try the Blisbucker or for evh type stuff the Blister w/ a alnico 2 magnet in it. These are not listed on his site but will be in the future. Great Great Great oh and Great. Dave Friedman

Cheers Dave! Great to see you 'round these parts. Wade sure has quite the story on the blister pickup. What a chuckle!

Wade has wound me some some real beauties to spank those Dave F.-modded modules of mine.

+1 - for more "modern" stuff IMO

and for the more "vintage" stuff my personal choice is another kraut brand Rockinger

http://www.rockinger.com

their Alnico 2 bucker for the neck and their new Bellbucker for the bridge - awesome pickups.

Dave...what do you think about the Aldrich bridge pup?

I thinks its really good. For me I like this pickup better but Johns stuff is always great. Apples and oranges you know. Dave

Harry made the pick-ups for the fretted side and I absolutely love them...
The fretless side has a Duncan and a Kent Armstrong...

Heh..the Marshallhead's replaced my WCR Goodwood/Darkburst set

Whatever, it's splitting hairs - at this level they all kick ass.

Oh yeah Ed, he's a Meisterwickler, definitely.
I have a P90s, a Tozz (high power ceramic bridge bucker) and a Vintage + bucker sized like a P90s made by him.

I had a set of Marshallhead re-winds in my previous LP. I liked them and all, bt something about the WCR's just floor me. Maybe I need to try a production set instead...?
