Thanks for all the suggestions. That gives me a lot to consider. I guess I should clarify that I'm looking for something similar the JB in output but tighter and more natural sounding. I want a medium hot to hot pickup that can do classic rock, 80's metal and hard rock (VH, Jake E. Lee, Randy Rhodes, etc.). I'm not really into vintage PAF-type pickups for my style.
The Godwoods would easily get you that tone I think as would the #6. The harmonic content of the Godwood make's it seem a bit hotter than what it is but it's still a open sounding pickup with clarity.

I didn't realize the JB was that hot. Haven't really ever played one.

Maybe try a Duncan custom 5....if you wanna stay in PRS camp try a HFS - I use both these pickups, the PRS #6 fits in there as well.

Try the SD 78/EVH or Alternative8

I still say the EMGs are the way to go.
