I recently was able to pickup a used Gibson SG Standard for a great price and was wanting to replace the JB that the last owner put in it. This guitar will be mostly used with a Mesa Boogie Roadster into a V30 cab. My band does hard rock, some metal and some stoner/doom stuff so I need it to handle fuzz pretty well. I have had a LPC copy with a Motor City detroiter and currently own a Les Paul Standard with a Motor City Nasty Nasty in it, so you can tell I am a pretty big fan of Wades pickups. I am new to the SG though and would like this guitar to have a huge sound to it, and have been honking of the afwayu but I haven't found any reviews of one in a SG. Any recommendation would be welcome (it doesn't have to be MCP But i would like another one of his)

Have afwayu in my prs , it kills. I think they would do well in an sg , beef it up a bit.

Thanks guys! I have never played a BKP pickup before but I'm worried that the warping might be a little to bass heavy with some of the reviews that I have read about it. Any thoughts on this would be awesome!

The Warpig will push the front end of your amp a bit. I love it with my Shiva. The bass is thick, but doesn't get muddy. Actually if you're using a Mesa Roadster...maybe the BKP Riff Raff would be better. Use a lower output PU into a gainier head. Also the stock Gibson 498T is a great rock PU in an SG if you upgrade your pots to 500k all around.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Riff Raff. The original owner sold the pickups out of it so I don't have the 498T or I would check it out with a 500K pot. I have been thinking about trying out a lower output pickup since I could always just dial in more gain with the amp, but have just been a little unsure about it.

When I had my SG, Wade sold me on the Hot Heads. They were pretty killer in that guitar.

That being said, if you research on the Bare Knuckle Forum, Tim suggests to either go extreme or go vintage. Pretty much Warpig or something like the Mule or Riff Raff.
