Pics in the classified sub forum

Just curious about the problems everyone seems to be having posting pics in the classified forum. I attached 5 in an ad last night and only 2 showed up in the post. Tried to edit the ad and repost and still only 2 showed up. Posted a response to my own ad and attached pics again, and again only 2 showed up. I checked my ad a few times last night and again today. At times the the pics were visible, and at other times they were not. I have posted ads with pics before with no problems, so this is not a mistake on my part.
It is possible that some of the newer members are actually following the rule of posting pics with ads, but are experiencing the same problems. Wouldn't it be better for the members and owner alike to fix the issue. I know there are some really tech savvy folks here that could solve the problem.
Anyway, just throwing that out there.

I see where you're going with that, but I don't think that's the problem. If they try to post pics, you can see that by the link that doesn't work. When I see no links in an ad, I have to conclude the person didn't even try......

That being said, I do agree there is something seriously fucked up with the site. People have been raising this issue since the site crashed a few months back, with no fix since. There is absolutely no doubt that there is an issue. When you have dozens of longtime members saying they are experiencing issues where, previously, they were not, it's indicative of a systemic problem that has to be due to a site issue......

When I said some of my pics were not visible, I could still see where the 2 pics were supposed to be, as you pointed out.But I posted a total of 5 pics in my first ad, and 3 of those are nowhere to be found, and there is no indication that they were ever within the body of the post.
I realize that some people just don't give a shit about rules and do what they want, but it is possible that some folks added pics that just didn't show up in their ad. That was the case with mine.
I know enough about computers to run my DAW and surf the net. Any ideas as to what is causing the problem or how big of an undertaking it would be to fix? The classifieds are one of the coolest features of the site. Shame that it is not running as smoothly as it once did.

This is indeed a problem, and the reason that people who know they don't work and continue to use the attachment feature is a mystery.

I always link to Photobucket in my ads. The issue is that many others don't, which makes the Classifieds less useful and inherently frustrating to navigate.

As for asking everyone to just use links and not attachments: ignoring a problem won't make it go away. The attachment feature should either be fixed or eliminated from the site altogether.

You can add the photo right to the page by clicking on the IMG Code next to the photo then pasting it on the page.

Or maybe I just didn't know that you could do that. Doesn't have anything to do with my work ethic. Why not post a how to in the classified section and ask Brad to make it a sticky. Shouldn't take much longer than posting a useless smart ass comment does. Meanwhile, I'm going to try and shake off my lazy ways long enough to type Photobucket into google.

Sorry man, I didn't mean to come across shitty. I really wasn't complaining. I was just curious as to why it had not been fixed. I don't know anything about maintaining a web site, so I didn't know if it was something that could be easily fixed, or if it was a monumental task. If you do take the attachment feature out of the picture, it would be nice to have a how to sticky for posting pics otherwise. I had no idea that I could link to pics like LP explained. Now that I know I will do that in the future.
And I do realize that the classifieds are a free service, and appreciate that you provide it.

Once again I'm amazed out how the level of entitlement just raises the bar every year. It's a "FREE" forum to visit and sell your gear too. So it has it's glitches from time to time. The attachment one I never got because using a 3rd party site is so easy and it doesn't eat up server space/bandwidth for the forum. Have people really become that fucking lazy! There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism but when it turns into whiny, self entitled bullshit it bugs the shit out of me. Usually too, the people who whine won't put any effort into investigating or learning about options before they post. I'm sorry, maybe I just had a bad week at work where customers don't understand the concept of pressing TV then Power on their cable remote and require handwritten notes and a powerpoint presentation to know how to change channels but fuck!
