I had no idea how far one could take a delay in his music. amazing piece. I suppose I could live with other delays, but this one really opened my eyes, and it works well in series.

TC Electronic Booster/Line Driver

Add this to almost any rig and I can get that high gain tone that is on a shit load of old school metal albums. Love it

Honestly? it's not really GEAR, but it IS gear.

my first Apple Powerbook (the now called MacBook Pro for those non apple users)

it came with Garage Band, and that COMPLETELY changed my way of creating/feeling music. It made such a strong impact, that it made me get into producing and recording (after a career in Marketing and a Masters degree in advertising, I switched to Audio Production and now I'm a happy happy man)

so again, it's not gear, but it is right? hehe

other than that....no guitar/amp/pedal/fx unit has changed my life that much.

Prob. my first Classical guitar back in 1994 or something like that

Gibson Explorer. Really helped my playing skyrocket from using a shitty 200 dollar Ibanez.

As impractical as it is living in London with no car, my Bogner 4x12. It makes every head I've ever put through it sound fantastic. Amazing cabinet.

Maxon OD808, 5150, GMW DeMartini, Bogner XTC Classic, Anderson Drop Top, Caparison TAT

The Diezel VH4. It really opened my eyes to what could be achieved with an amp.

Late '60s Rickenbacker 4001 - what a bass. ADA MB-1 - full spectrum of bass tone for rock, funk, punk, thrash, metal, pop.

My first real guitar, 1978 Les Paul Custom black / gold, purchased new in '78. What a difference it made in my playing, it also made me want to learn more so I practiced more and longer; studied theory with a jazz session player (and it wasn't cheap for a high school kid!), and by senior year of high school, I was first chair lead guitarist in jazz band. Without that LP, I may have stopped playing music altogether or would be much worse than I am now (which is pretty darn bad). :(

(Of course, the LP while great, was nothing without an amp. I had a some vintage 2 x 12 cabinet, but I also had a Sunn Beta Lead head (purchased new). Great amp for me here is a site that has a pic and info, http://sunn.ampage.org/site/museum/betalead/

All of this gear is long gone, except the MB-1 which was sold this morning with the rest of the ADA bass rig.

My first les paul, and then my first set of after market WCR pickups.

After that, Mesa Boogie Amps.

After that, Mills Acoustics Guitar Cabinets

BB Preamp and TC 2290

BB preamp? why? I have one on the way and this got me interested. What can I expect from it?

Probably my first tube amp....2ch Mesa DR...completely changed the the way I felt about my playing in two very positive ways:

1. Tube tone...holy hell...for the first time I really enjoyed distortion
2. Realized my playing really sucked..but it forced me to improve my playing..and I actually play a little better because of it...

I have to go back to '88 when I bought my ADA MP-1...absolutely revolutionary for its time and opened up a whole new world of tone tweaking.

My American Std Stratocaster:
My first guitar, it got me hooked on the disease known as playing guitar. When I first set my eyes on it, I knew I was screwed:

Pod 2.0: Not only did it have all the effects and amp-ish sounds I wanted, I could take it anywhere with me. Holy shit. It taught me, in general, what certain types of amps sounded like.

Steinberger GU-7: I've taken this guitar everywhere with me. Probably has more hours logged than on all my other guitars combined. Along with whatever the latest Pod is, it goes around the globe with me, wherever Uncle Sam decides to send me. Without this and the Pod, I'd be lost...

Fender pick, heavy ;)

Probably the first thing was a Boss SD-1 that I go shortly after I started playing...still have it and it still works :)

My first tube amp and 4x12 was a religous experience, it was an 83 JCM800 2203 w/6650's and a 1960A cab...still have tha too

ps: This blew me away the first time I heard it as a kid in the 1980's. Wow, it was a processed Boston tone in a box.

My first marshall jcm 800 stack, the 79 strat that I had got new and put a floyd rose on,then came the 94-95 recto's, Then the Herbert.... :D
