My first Cameron Aldrich and my GMW mutt totally made a huge impact on me! Its still my main guitar and it inspires me more and more each time i pick it up. The Cameron Aldrich i ended up selling, but it absolutely changed my life and steered me towards getting killer tone :)

Since I do a ton of direct recording, when it comes to guitar sounds, the Fractal Audio Axe FX has changed my life for the better. finally can get great usable sounds all while just plugging into a digital box. Perfect? no, but has made my life much easier in this regard, direct recording...

Egnater Mod 100.
The most flexible tube amp out there and one of the best sounding amps as well.
It is the first amp I've owned in 20 yrs of playing that I didn't feel was missing something tonally or functionally.
Bruce is a genius!

No piece of gear has ever really 'changed my life', but the piece of gear that always manages to put a big stupid smile on my face is my '71 Super Lead. Cranked loud... With a good OD pedal...

I wouldn't say it was life changing, but my Mark IV just blows me away every time I crank it up. Also, absolutely love my Taylor acoustic.

Egnater M4. 2 years of research ended with Bruce and the mod series. Changed my perception of amplification entirely. Still makes me happy every time I fire it up.

I'd have to say when I first pickup up a Mesa Quad Preamp in the mid 90s. There was a certain quality to the tone that I had never heard in my playing before. This was the piece of gear that started my tone snobbery.

My first Hondo II LP copy. That started me down my road of playing!

my first strat. mid 70's model. then my first paul. wish i woulda kept it-gibby only made 5 of them. oh well.

Cork sniffing. :D

My TriAxis. Opened up to the world of midi and how easy life is when you can program everything to one preset

5150 (1992)
Bogner Cab (1995)
Bogner 101B (1996)
Echoplex EP-3 (1998)
Egnater MOD100 (2006)
Ernie Ball Rosewood Axis (2006)

Evidence Cables (2007)
Mesa Boogie IIC+ (2008)
Cameron (HG Jose) (2008)
Cameron CCV (2009)

Tom Anderson guitars and Mesa Boogie amps changed everything for me early on. Most of the best tones I heard came from players that used that combination on the stage/in the studio/or in the bedroom.

My Marshall SLP has changed everything, esp with single coils.

First though was Ralph's MK IV rig at his house, oh man the amount of MK IVs that rig has sold

Lots of interesting stuff in this thread with which I totally agree and should also mention.

ADA MP-1 = introduced me to the rockin', non-scooped tones. def changed my life
Suhr pups = nothing to say. they just sound better than everything else.
Mesa Triaxis = really turned me into a tweaker, plus some of my best, most inspired recorded tones were all 100% triaxis. my first truly high end piece of gear.
Egnater M4 = the best preamp on the face of the earth. The only reason I didn't pick it in my first post was because I can still get great sounds out of other preamps.
