Nice. I played one last week at GC. The neck is perfect, and the body was very resonant. If it only had a neck pickup...

You have $45? That's how much a decent luthier would charge to route it for a neck pickup. The whole point of Eddie's guitars was to hot rod something and make it exactly what you want.

Why not just go with a 36 anni to kick those duncans out on anything PAF flavoured!? Save yourself the trouble and still get all the KA-ROOOOONCH (crunch for you non rockarollers)

Would you mind sharing your thoughts on the 59/Custom Hybrid? I have one in an Agile LP and like it quite a bit.

I am in love with this pickup for the last few months. Like most of the pickups designed for the brown sound but instead of hovering around the 9k mark for output, this one is around 10k and that little extra juice is really cool!

Ahem excuse me.. that pickup is not made by a boutique builder so I must totally disagree with you liking it or thinking it is any good. Geez...

Indeed. Lemme grab my chisel.

Luthier with a router and a template = better than a chisel ;)

Chisel worked for the madman who created said guitar, so I say it fits with the medium

Did you measure it? Just wondering 'cause the Duncan website says 11.5 k...

EVH pattern guitar and Rick Nielsen pattern shirt! What's not to love?

I just picked up a b/w striped one form Musician's Friend as a mint but used item with a 15% added discount. $711 to my door with a 30 day money back return policy. Thought it would be a nice "novelty" guitar that I would just use to practice on at home. if I even liked it. Well, so far I'm liking it pretty well. I'm considering routing it for a neck humbucker and getting another pick guard and moving the volume knob forward a bit. Considering other upgrades as well.

Anyone else "pimping" their striped series and care to share their before and after experiences?

A big word of warning on these. The bodies and necks are not compatible with other bodies and necks. It sounds ridiculous, but I mean exactly what I just said. The neck pocket of the body and neck heel only match up with each other. You can't throw a replacement neck on these bodies or put one of these necks on a different body. They don't fit. And that stratosphere guy on ebay is parting these out left and right. I wonder how many buyers of the necks or bodies have gotten ticked that they bought a body or neck and can't use it on anything else.

The owner of this guitar didn't want it reliced or I would have been happy to do it  :LOL

You think it's getting relic'd by Dime down there?...

That's a bit more morbid of a thought than I planned... :scared:

What size brass block were you able to fit in it? If its a 37 could you get a 42 or 44? Thanks.

what difference did the brass block make??... I have noticed with basswood guitars that they seem to lack that sparkle, does the block help with that?? I remember watching a guitar world video where they used different blocks in a san dimas and I hated both the brass and steel block they tried, thought the original one sounded a lot better (that was with alder though)

I've always felt they add sustain and help just thicken the tone up. I've used them on every Floyd guitar I've owned and they all sounded better with the brass.
