Thanks for the pics, Monty! Is that Kirk's "original" KH-2 or the KH-2 relic ESP's still making? Just wondering if Kirk dares to take it on the road with him these days or if he uses a copy of it instead while on tour.

Monty, which bootleg of Metallica's whole gig at ´91 MoR Moscow is the best one available (name/size)?

Who makes that Explorer shaped guitar ? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

Wow!, that is bit of coin. It is a beautiful guitar, but I don't see where the money is at. That is way over priced.
This guy probably hand makes 'em one per year or something.

Talk to some KL owners and they'll tell ya all about the ART and real craftsmenship that Ken puts into each guitar :)

James, ditch the 80's denim vest or least button it up...

Maybe that vest was in the Armanti bag he was holding in the pics

Sorry bro, I know you are VERY into mcTa$$$ica but no no-name builder's explorer is worth $6000

Ken's not exactly a no name builder. He's like one of THE top bass luthiers around. That's what he's really known for.

BTW....very cool of you to post these pics!

Been following bass players for over 30 years and none that I know play them. The most expensive guitars that I see these days being released are all related to Mcta$$$ica....those joke ESP 20th fiddles, KL who would not be able to charge this amount if not for yuppie boy jimz, for some reason these guys can sell water to a wino

I don't know anyone who plays one personally, but I do know a lot of bass players who have drooled afte ra KL over the years.

Agreed that the price is crazy high, but so are Diezels for what you get IMHO (just an example, I know some folks love them.). If someone wants to spend the bucks....more power to them. I will stick with my Gutierrez for about 1/3 the cost.

Regarding Metallica in general, I know we in the music community like to bash them (I think some of it is envy..wether we admit it or not...because they get paid VERY well to do what we would all love to be doing), but there is no denying their draw. I have seen them well over 75 yimes since the early 80's and turn into a fan all over again every time. There are very few bands/performers I have seen over the years that just have "it". Metallica definitely does. Some others that I have seen personally that also do:

Prince
Paul McCartney (spell that right?)
Elvis (I saw him when I was a kid and still remember the feeling...wow)
Aerosmith
Garth Brooks
Johnny Cash

All the above just draw you to them when you are in their presence. Loads of great mucsicians out there don't( I could list a ton of GREAT bands I have seen that had no emotional draw whatsoever for me).

I have been in many rooms that Hetfield walked into and you can just feel the air change. Can't explain it, just know it happens.

Yeah...I'm a fanboy, but not for any other reason than what they do moves me and makes me feel good. Isn't that what is all about?

Nothing cooler than a ripped denim waistcoat with nothing underneath.
