Played a 2019 Gibson LP Std 60s...between concerts.....LOL!

I went to a Doors Tribute band show in one city and then went to see KISS in another city with a different friend. Seeing I'm a guitarist with G.A.S., I obviously found time to swing by a Guitar Center in-between shows (pathetic!!). Anyway, I finally got a chance to play one of the new Les Paul Standards 60s specs.

I really had a blast playing the guitar and like I said when I tried out the newest Classic offering, just felt solid all the way around. You can describe what you are feeling when you pick one up but just feels like a great buy. You don't hear things rattling around, feels like the right weight, etc.

I was surprised at how much lighter it was than what I expected to feel. It is obviously not light, because it is an LP but it didn't pull my arm out of the socket like an 89' I had for awhile. Sounded really good too! I messed around with the tone knobs and the volume since I heard they went back to the way they used to do it. As advertised, the tones stayed consistent as you lowered the volume. Also the pickups seemed to sound closer than what I've had with LPs in the past. Sometimes I would hit that neck pickup and would get a boost in bass and a lose of clarity. With this one was definitely more of the same.

Really liked the guitar and planning on picking one up!

I'm up to approx 5 times now of playing a new Gibson since their NAMM relaunch, and I've had the same experience: It just feels 'right'.

It breaks my heart to follow them on social media and see most responses to what they post being people saying things like "They haven't made a good guitar in 25 years" or "Your quality control sucks, stop trying!", etc..etc.. And if you look at some of the deals of late, they're even getting their pricing more in line. (NOT counting artist models, etc)

PS: Good on you for cramming a guitar-playing GC visit in your busy evening of loud music.

Yeah man when people say stuff like that they obviously haven't been doing their research and don't understand what happened. The same kind of situation happened with Fender in the CBS years. There are a lot of companies that got caught up in that machine so much that they chased the dollar over integrity.

I can't speak for every model in the guitar catalog but as far as the Les Paul goes, I noticed the difference immediately. I've been reading up a lot on the new models, watching videos, etc. because I wanted to know if this was a true change. I don't think anyone should ever expect perfection from any company but obviously when you spend the money, you want a guitar to feel great.

I'm a huge Gibson fan and I was even getting to the point where I would shop for a Les Paul and buy one based on which one felt the least messed up. LOL! It was like out of five guitars, only one would stay in tune, three wouldn't have fret buzz, etc. Should be the opposite. I should pick up a handful of Les Pauls and struggle with which one to get.
