I wanted to try the Renegade but i also plugged into a 3 channel JVM. For $1700..... That amp has a lot of gain but my god it's funny how bad my Fortin just pisses all over what Marshall is putting out these days   The longer i played it the less i liked it.

I've played the Rebel 20 and 30 and didn't care for them but the Renegade is pretty cool. It has just enough gain but you can dial it in to sound good with less gain, unlike the JVM. I think they're going on sale on Monday for $850 which is pretty good deal for what you get. A pretty good gain channel and a nice clean. I still found the tube mix knob to be a little useless. The reverb sounded very nice.

Overall i liked the Renegade a lot more than the JVM. For the coin it might make a nice second amp since my Lonestar is going...going...gone. Got tired of tinkering with that drive channel.

3 channel? I thought they were 4 or 2?

2 or 3..one of those   All channels sounded equally messy. :D

i like the jvm except for channel 4

channel three is the sound for megadeth's end game.

People acted like I was nuts for selling the JVM410 for a VM. I think you would agree the VM is the nicer amp.

Yeah I remember most of us making a big fuss when the JVM came out. I sold mine after a few months and got a VM and compared them. VM sounded much more natural. After that I couldn't get into the JVM anymore. I recently played the JVM again and I can't believe how un-appealing it sounds. There are so many other amps out now that kill it.

I find the tube mix on the Renegade useless as well. It sounds thick at even mix and hollows out turning either way. Cool amp but it's more of a rock amp. It doesn't get as mean as the Tourmaster.

Huge plus one on the VM vs JVM. VM is much more to my liking.

I'm going to speak up for the 2 channel JVM. It is my favorite high gainer of all time (80's NWOBHM and thrash).

I don't miss the Splawn, Engl, VHT, etc..........one bit.

I've said it before and will say it again. Immediately pull all the pre-amp tubes and put in a mix of Sovtek LPS's and a JE GAN 5751 in a strategic position (V3), crank the channel volume, EQ to taste without ever going above high noon on any dial (including Presence/Resonance), and run it through a deep, rear loaded cab with Greenbacks.

And stay away from the Red modes

Or, you can not do all that and just get a Fortin and still sound better. :D

I remember reading all the JVM hype when it first came out. But when I tried one, I really didn't like it at all. When I said so on another forum, I was attacked as if I had just shot somebody's mother. Some really nasty stuff. I felt vindicated though when many of the same people put their JVMs up for sale not long after. I just got a Renegade. Not bad but I still prefer my old 2204. Nice amp for the money though.

Still like mine

Yeah it aint no Fortin though.

I'd dump the JVM before the Mark IV.

Nope, for a multi-channel grab and gig amp the JVM works better IMO. Verb is better, two masters for volume boost, better crunch channel.

IF I was straight up lead channel playing yeah the MK IV for me was better though.

Another JVM sucks thread! Awesome. :jerkit: \:D/ :poke:

I still like mine but I do like my Fortin more, no doubt about it.

I've played both and I'd take the Renegade over the JVM personally.
